I just realized it's been close to a year since I updated here... ouch.
Things have been okay. As far as my small business goes I've had more to do this year, but some clients take forever to respond to invoices. One of those is a law firm that I've been doing a project for since Spring of 2023. I'm actually working as a subcontractor to an environmental engineering firm that I've worked with before. About 3 months ago I sent them an invoice for all my work since the project started. It took a few weeks for them to reply and tell me they received my invoice and are "awaiting approval." This was 2 months ago. I've been sending them email reminders every week or 2 asking for the status of the invoice. They never respond. Last week I even threatened to stop work on this project if they didn't pay me. Again, crickets. I really don't want to go the route of a collection agency as they take a fee but I'm not sure what else I can do. They owe me a pretty decent sum of money. They're also poor with communication and I never know when we're going to have a Zoom meeting. It's gotten to the point where I just set up my laptop every Tuesday to see whether anyone signs on. Once this project ends I'm never doing anything for them again.
( Read more...Collapse )I had blood work done today for my yearly physical, which isn't until the 15th. I was surprised to get the results about 8 hours after I had it done. Everything was good except my TSH (thyroid) level, which they marked as low (it was about 0.38, normal range is 0.47-4.0). They noted that Biotin supplements can mess with it and cause it to be falsely reported as low, and suggested stopping them at least 48 hours before having bloodwork done. I never knew about this, they'd never mentioned it before. I do take Biotin supplements daily, about 10,000 mcg for brittle nails. I also had spinach with dinner the night before and read that contains biotin so maybe that added to it?
If it isn't a lab error of course. If so I guess I have to prepare myself for the possibility of hyperthyroidism, at least according to Google. I have none of the symptoms though so it's a complete mystery. What bothers me most is that it's way off from what it was last year, and the year before that and so on.
Of course I got these results after my doctor's office hours so I'm going to call them tomorrow. Really hoping I can talk to someone who can put my fears to rest. Really hoping the Biotin threw it off or it was a lab error. Ugh... I can't deal with this stress :/

What could it possibly mean when someone changes their Tumblr (or other social media) user name every single day, or nearly every day?
This guy keeps messaging me there, he is apparently from Australia and tells me he's in his late teens but has the body of a baby due to some pituitary gland abnormality. He started off sending me an "Ask" to my Classic Doctor Who blog, it was totally off-topic so I didn't post it there and just sent him a gentle message back letting him know. He apologized saying he's had a hard time of it lately, told me about his condition and then got into all these sob stories about his sister and her friends harassing him, his mom not wanting to be bothered, they dressed him up in baby clothes and put him in a baby sized wedding dress to have a fake wedding with a toddler... I'd say things like "I'm sorry to hear that, that's terrible" and he wouldn't even acknowledge it, he'd just keep repeating over and over what they'd done to him.
It's now getting even weirder, he's telling me constantly "I love you" and "I wish you could look after me in my baby condition." Um.... yeah.
I'm even wondering if he's just playing me. I asked him at one point that if he's the size of a baby, how could he post on social media on a phone. He told me he's like the guy who played Mini Me in the Austin Powers movies, where he had mini-sized gadgets. I admit I know pretty much nothing about stuff like that. Do such things exist (pardon my ignorance, honestly)?
