Pictured left and right above, Pazuzu: “The name Pazuzu comes from the Sumerian word pazuzu meaning ‘the fierce wind’…” https://www.deliriumsrealm.com/pazuzu/ ; however, the iconic first appearance of this daemon dates from the 8th century BCE (799-700), a time when Mesopotamia and Babylon were under the dominance of Persia, the fourthempire to rule the Near East (in the order of Sumer, Akkad, Assyria and Persia). “Zu” a is title shortened from “Anzu” in Akkadian, representing a half man-half bird called “The Wise One” in the older myth traditions of Sumer and Akkad (c.2200 BCE). “Zuzu” I can guess is either a double-headed bird or one whole single flyer. “Pa” is a word root in both Persian and Sanskrit for “protection” and the Pazuzu amulet was put to that purpose, mainly for use by women and babies as protection against other daemons. Like the deeply ancient mother goddess figurines, Pazuzu heads compare to real-world bird brains, growing loftier over time with a larger and higher job description as do other bird brains in my narrative.
Pazuzu was re-introduced to the world in the 1973 hit movie The Exorcist, adapted from the 1971 book by its author William Peter Blatty. The setting for Blatty’s story is Washington DC’s own neighborhood of Georgetown, spot on God’s Meridian, the 77 longitude, connected by the Francis Scott Key bridge to Arlington (different from the bridge in Baltimore that crashed on March 26, 2024). “Our Lady” of Paris had its cornerstone laid on Easter, Resurrection Day, of 1163 (1+1+6+3=11) March 31 (31-3) according to the Julian calendar then in use. No existing document in church history proffers the date, we’re told, even with the King of France and Pope attending. Adding sufficient days for modern Gregorian conversion means that April 15 (4+15=19), 2019 is exceptionally close to the actual 856-year (8+5+6=19) anniversary of the cathedral –the day that it burned in the 19th (6-7pm) hour. The south-facing wall with the giant rose window called the “noon rose,” seen above on the right, was reported almost lost in the fire. The window height soars 19 meters from the floor foundation and draws a visitor’s eye across the Seine. At risk was a very rare, perhaps one-of-a-kind, depiction of Adam and Eve in stained glass. Do you see a flamingo (phoenicopterus) fire bird?
The origin of this story plate is unknown, as is the cathedral itself. The supervisor of the building project, Bishop of Paris Maurice de Sully (who was born in 1110 and died on September 11, 1196), was a close confidant of King Louis VII, who organized and led the European forces of the Second Crusade. As I write, I’m still looking for the placement of this A&E glass panel. Despite the photo label, the window petals don’t match the color scheme of rose windows in the Paris Notre Dame. I’m suspecting it’s either in a private area, or was replaced during an earlier renovation and reinstalled somewhere else entirely. The image, however, has an authentic 12-century style, if not a conventional message. Flamingos do not hang out in trees but live their lives gathering in great numbers, feeding and nesting on salty mudflats and marshes where few other creatures can survive. Eggs are laid into scraped-together mud cones, one egg to each breeding pair (same as the extinct passenger pigeons), and protected as much by the exclusive environment as by the parents. On the south Occitanian coast of Provence is a famous gathering place of flamingos known as Carmargue, that is today a protected reserve of the Rhone river delta. A medieval fortress there, called Aigues-Mortes, still guards the salt flats where human production of fleur de sel remains even now the largest bounty of gourmet Mediterranean salt. When God was a bird is referencing the BRAIN figurines called ‘venus’ and ‘mother goddess’ totems –icons from unknown misty history. New bird/brain comparison pictures are up at the latest (previous post) of Crow Notes. If the old bird brain figurines are as old as the archaeologists suggest (i.e.40,000 years) we have no way of actually knowing their social function in context. That they ARE bird brains in form is beyond dispute or controversy, in my opinion, supported by myth and legend. When and how recorded civilizations internalized the Birds should be part of a new story, especially to include pandemic influenza and Corvid-19.

New Catastrophism could hardly invent a better story than the unleashing of newks (pardon my spelling). Heisenberg, famed for the “uncertainty principle” in quantum physics, took on a prominent role as Germany’s Prometheus in rivalry with the “American Prometheus” Robert Oppenheimer–a popular 2005 ‘best-in-class’ book by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin. Bird and “sure win”?? Am I poking fun? For the record, I don’t believe n-weapons are a hoax, rather an actualized stage of apocalyptic destruction in a global theater. It has an earlier counterpart in so-called Spanish Flu, both highly complex, war-ending (denoting victory), and paradigmatic earth shakers brought by the Gas Giants.
But, to the point, did we learn in school that the creator of mankind, Prometheus, was a twin?

Prometheus (‘foresight’) and Epimetheus (‘hindsight’) get a role reversal in our new-clear history version. Oppenheimer, I contend, is America’s Epimetheus. In the myth of the twins, these Titans (old gods) are both punished by Zeus, the Olympian usurper: Prometheus (Heisenberg, anyone?) is chained and tortured by the bird for ‘stealing god- fire’ and giving it to man, while ‘foolish’ Epimetheus is wed to the seductive and human Pandora (meaning “all gifts”; innocence? vanity? curiosity?), made for him by Zeus, and unthinkingly opens her ‘jar of all troubles’.
The real-life ‘rivalry’ between Heisenberg and Oppenheimer is a myth. As I know it, in the summer of 1939 at the University of Michigan, physicist Samuel Goudsmit hosted a last gathering of international colleagues before the outbreak of World War II where Heisenberg attended. Anticipating their future ‘patriotic’ obligations, all were concerned for his welfare under Nazi authority and bid him not to return to Germany. There, in secret among a few trusted friends including Goudsmit, Heisenberg passionately swore he would never help the Nazis build atomic weapons or destroy Germany in the process. Therefore, he told them, he must return to prevent anyone else from helping either. In all respects, Heisenberg carried through to the point of failing to acquire technical knowledge that would aid the ‘project’. A certain proof of Heisenberg’s fidelity in the late days of war was to walk away unknowing that he had been targeted for assassination by an American physicist/baseball player named Moe Berg who sat and drank coffee with him somewhere in Switzerland. At war’s end, Heisenberg was held in custody by the British and ‘bugged’ for more information, thanks to the “atomic agents” of operation ALSOS (Boris Pash, Samuel Goudsmit, Moe Berg) and a probable American military intelligence officer in-the-know named Clay Shaw.

Frankenstein’s Creature was 8 feet tall with yellow skin and long, lustrous black hair—like a great plucked raven– likely envisioned here by illustrator Theodor von Holst (1831 edition), who died of a liver disease on February 14, 1844 at age 33. Mary “God win” Shelley, who conceived of the novel at age 18 (as her story goes), may have approved. She died February 1, 1851 (2+1+15= 18). And here’s Victor –same face? You won’t see it in any other Frankenstein books or movies, and Mind Unveiled makes no comment on their ‘twin’ appearance, but sometimes you don’t have to—seeing is enough. “The creature always seems to find him” goes the narration, and when not in the open, he comes to Victor’s window.
It is this very looking-glass element I most want to peruse.

The Sandy Hook monster: creation and creator (so to speak)? Same face?

Look into the liminal spaces to see Lovecraft under the mask of Adam, and then imagine a kid with a digital crayon working it over, as if ‘the children’ themselves created the monster that would burst through the window and destroy them.
Howard Phillips Lovecraft was born on August 20, 1890; 8+20 (28) and 1+8+9+0 (18) = 46, also his age at death in the city of his birth, Providence Rhode Island. In the end, no one could fully piece the Sandy Hook monster together. The story is everyone’s and no one’s– a creature of culture. “SHE” was erased down to the last crushed brick and made new. Nine years and 317 days later (9 + 11), a monument was opened to the public (Nov 13, 2022). The very last brick is there, hidden under a plaque and made from the warehouse full of saved mementos; teddy bears, toys, candles, cards, crosses and maybe even Christmas trees, incinerated and compressed to a monolithic black mass.
During an image search for ‘Adam and Eve,’ intending to show it as ‘brain’ structure and expecting some medieval illuminated manuscript, I quickly found something surprising—but not surprising really. This 4th century carving on stone turned out to be more illuminating.
Among the earliest Christian artifacts known, Agape’s box shows a first couple depiction considered to be very rare. What struck me first about this panel is the lack of physical differentiation between Adam and Eve. It reminded me right away of the Persian figurine and the Frankenstein pictures— identical ‘males’ for each. And there’s also something I’m learning new from this sarcophagus, that the lamb is associated with Eve and the wheat with Adam.
Some human brain anatomy comes in handy here: The so-called ‘female/goddess’ side of the brain core is posterior and back-facing: Eve is the eye in the back of the head with an apple for a pineal gland, (and in bird words) nerve feathers stretching out toward the visual cortex nested in the occipital plate defined by the lambdoid suture. The interior ‘cross’ of the bony occipital plate that She is facing is called the cruciform eminence.
Meaning and usage of lambda: “In physics, particularly in quantum mechanics, the lambda symbol is often used to represent the wavelength of a wave or the decay constant in radioactive decay. It is also used to represent the cosmological constant, which is a term introduced by Albert Einstein in his theory of general relativity to account for the expansion of the universe… In feminist movements, the lambda symbol has also been used as a powerful symbol of resistance and empowerment. Agape and Crescentian were most likely to have been Christian gnostics, evidenced by the other panels on her tomb. I can only find pictures of three panels (lid edges included), versus five-of-six that could be carved, but nevertheless Jesus is a central figure on the front. He is shown fully-robed, young and beardless with curly, thick-looking hair—the most feminine of all the characters displayed. And at least one change attributable to the emerging Christian believers of this early period, significantly diverging from Judaism, is that they stopped sacrificing lambs. For my conceptual uses here, read that as “stopped killing their mothers” and by extension babies too.
Agape (ah-GAH-pay):

I have a ‘self-evident’ proposition: In the Old Testament book of Genesis, chapter 11: 1-9, where “the people are one and they all have one language,” (NKJV, Tower of Babel) the language is MATH and comprehending its meaning is AFTERMATH.

I’m working on some anagrams for the whole sign, but here’s my first all-letter anagram for ‘we are sandy hook’ (=164=(1+6+4)=11) and it reads like a directive memo: “re: ok Wash Day One” Back in 2011, Eric Holder visited Connecticut staties to apprise them of the government’s gun-control policy to “repetitively… brainwash“** their citizens to disarm. “O’ Hades woke Ryan” is another all-letter WASH, and attentive observers remember the ‘Ryan’ script, but “we choose love”-craft, huh?, so ADAM emerged from the underworld.
Using all 26 letters from the billboard, applying the most letters to words having sense with speech, turns up a little Q&A spell. Question: what does the spell do? Answer: “Does craven YHWH laws, ooookeee?” The split arrangement of the sign lettering stacks 14 over 12, a mirror for the day of 12-14. That’s the sum, and enough SHE for now.

The ‘allalu’ bird, a.k.a. Coraciidae (/kɒrəˈsaɪ.ɪdiː/) is a family of Old World birds, which are known as rollers because of the aerial acrobatics some of these birds perform during courtship or territorial flights. The family contains 13 species and is divided into two genera. It’s the symmetry and placement of serpents (claustrum) that helps identify the “Temptation seal” as a brain schematic. And, according to myth from which Campbell is leading, Dumuzid/Tammuz/Adon is a bird.

To bring some cohesion going forward, brave reader, the concept of symmetry as described by a cymatic model is essential undergirding. It is perhaps the ultimate measure of ‘soundness’ for a truthseeker. From the top, foregoing images of Adam and Eve show the earliest illuminating fruit Tree as a date palm (gematria value= 72) and (Agape’s) fig (=22), so the apple (=50) is at best a third, and late, variation. Nonetheless, if you add a fig (22) to an apple (50) you can still get a date palm (=72) which is a cipher from Old Testament Hebrew on the ’72 Names of God.’ But I suggest the Eye of the Needle figure is not Eve but Atalanta, who lost her foot-race in a “suit for marriage” by the ardent Hippomenes when he threw magical golden apples (from Aphrodite’s sacred garden) into her path to slow and distract her. An ancient and sacred Welsh-Celtic poem, called The Battle of the Trees (Cad Goddeu), is what first attracted me to Robert Graves’ book The White Goddess, bought long ago and instinctively pulled off the shelf and reread for Corona the Crow. The battle is the cyclical order of the calendar year as each tree comes forward in season– blooming, fruiting, and supporting the web of life wherever it grows. In R.G.’s thesis, the battle order constructs the poetic alphabet of the bards and carries deep religious meaning, understood as “a battle fought intellectually in the head and with the tongues of the learned.” Citing the brilliant but erratic Welsh scholar, Rev. Edward Davies, R.G. shares Davies view that “in all Celtic languages trees means letters,” and by this Tree Alphabet ‘code’ the White Goddess endeavors to reconstruct the poem and reveal the messengers who carried it.
Graves presents the Welsh minstrels who survived the post-Roman incursions (after 410AD) as “descended from the original Welsh master-poets…[who]kept alive an astonishingly ancient literary tradition…in the form of popular tales which preserved fragments…of myth…backas far as the Stone Age.”He warns his readers in the Forward, “that this remains a very difficult book…to be avoided by anyone with a distracted, tired or rigidly scientific mind. Cutting, splitting, ‘seeing’(‘scier’) and sawing are various PIE and old Anglo words for science. The addition of kata — breaking, downing and felling—certainly expands the concept, like not seeing the forest beyond the trees. 1904 is not an accurate year-date for the introduction of chesnut blight in the Americas, and a Japanese origin for the fungal invader is probably wrong too– the Japanese chesnuts that were brought over for “landscape architecture” in 1876 (and I will get to that) were resistant and survived unharmed, with no evidence of the dread Cryphonectria parasitica. The source country of the fungus was recognized as China sometime around 1905, and within the decade it was already far too late to save the American species. As I write and research this, the story is ballooning under scrutiny. Most of it will have to wait for a sequel! My end-point intention for the American chesnut was to demonstrate how the loss of “chesnut currency” also took down a phenomenon in bird population with the extinction of the American passenger pigeon.
Symmetry shines in this epic of birds and trees, and almost nobody among the officiated is telling it. Perhaps they can’t quite piece it together for reasons unknown and constraining. So, it’s a people’s history, and if the numbers are right, there was a match: a passenger pigeon for every chesnut tree –multiple billions! The range and concentration of each was a match, especially as they were dying out. No bird species on the planet today numbers over 300 million according to experts, but the passengers migrated to and from their primary nesting grounds in flocks of millionsputting billions on the wing. Thinking of it gives me a primeval shiver. Some accounts record that these 60mph flyers flew so close together that they blacked out the sun overhead for hours and even days. “Biblical” is the word.
Naming the last last bird after the first First Lady, Martha Dandridge (Mrs.) Custis ( Mrs.Washington, childless second marriage with George), seems an unlucky omen. The Custis children all died young. John (‘Jacky’) lived long enough to father four ‘survivors’ (one son, three daughters) but died of illness at age 26. The pigeon had no offspring but lived longer than Martha’s . In time, Jacky Custis’s land purchase of 1,100 acres became the inheritance of his granddaughter, Mary Custis, who married General Robert E. Lee. Mr. and Mrs. Lee(=22) lived together at Custis’s Arlington House, later confiscated during the Civil War and permanently federalized as Arlington National Cemetery.
There’s a curious correspondence here with the day and hour of death for Martha the bird, 9-1-1, her age of 29 (all the head bones, and a mirror for 92) and the 9-11 attack on the Pentagon, demonstrated in Corona the Crow Part Two. Across from the Pentagon (=92, or 9+2=11) at the far end of Arlington (=110) Cemetery is a small triangular ‘art’ greenspace called Dark Star(=92, or 11) Park, an arrangement of 5 large cement spheres designed by artist Nancy Holt, a word meaning ‘forest’. Crow #2 decodes the movie Back To The Future, among other things, as the Pentagon’s 9-11 event where the set and scenery present a lettered sign that reads “Holt’s diner,” ana-grammed to “Holt sinder” as a phoneme for the burned out “fallen stars” (and a root word for ‘science’) but able to stand here, in this context, as an ashen forest that was once a feast of ‘mast’ for the birds. The post-9-11 memorial at the Pentagon features “flying benches” to honor the dead staff and passengersthat numbered 184, equaling 92+92, at the Pentagon/Dark Star on that black (=29) day.

The pilot(=72, or 9) and hijacker(=65, or 11), Hani Hanjour (=119), made a one-of-a-kind 330 degree descending turn toward his target to leave a smoldering 18-foot diameter vent in its wake. Columbia, as in the District of Columbia, means “pigeon place,” or “dove place” if you prefer, but science makes no distinction between pigeons and doves. They are all of a columbiform class called columbidae. The differences among these birds are largely behavioral and symbolic, determined by their colony– colon, meaning pigeon or dove as well as your gut.
Less than 6 months after the Frankenstein rehearsals, on April 20 1999, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris launched a barrage of death and mayhem against their schoolmates, allegedly killing 13 and wounding 20, including a teacher (=33). Even now, more than 25 years later, people are still trying to piece together what really happened from the multitude of fragmentary evidence left behind. The only seemingly consistent fact that applies across the terrain is 9-1-1 code –the story is creepy-crawling with it— beginning with the shooters’ birthdays. I only intend a small sample here because it raises a lot of questions beyond the scope of this post.
Eric Harris was born April 9, 1981, and turned 18 (=9) just 11 days before the shooting. Dylan Klebold was born on September 11, 1981, which made them 155 (=11) days apart in age. Year 1981= 1+9+8+1=19. April 9 is the 99(=18, or 9) day of the year. September 11 is the 254 (=11) day of the year. The number ‘20’ of course, Columbine’s doomsday, implicitly holds 9+11 together with 1999. April 20 is the 110 day of the year, and the mayhem began just minutes after 11 o’clock in the morning. Individuals unknown, who may have had a role in the destruction on that day, were first observed at the school payphone (=100) at 9am, wearing the ‘trenchcoat’ garb that came to describe several others thought to be involved.
The first responder on the scene, excepting police, was the fire and rescue company of Engine 11. Engine 11 can be seen in aerial footage near the ‘west’ alcove entrance where the cafeteria (ground floor) and library (second floor) are located. Most of the shooting took place in this corner of the building, where the greatest concentration of the 1800 student-body gathered over lunch hour. Strange things happened there with Engine 11, said to have been commandeered by the SWAT team to provide them with cover. Footage clearly shows that the men dragged two bodies from the alcove, moved the bodies around, and then repositioned them near the sidewalk where fleeing students later passed closely as they ran out. Good luck with finding a continuous clip of Engine 11 activity. Philip Dick died on March 2, 1982 following a stroke that caused coma, while alone at home. He was found about 12 hours later, taken and hospitalized on life support, according to friends, until they pulled the plug on him after a week. It would be easy to slip down the rabbit hole here and unearth more elements of PKD’s own life that appear mirrored in The Matrix, even in substance of fine detail. The movie’s “simulacra” moment pictured above is a case in point: a transaction of “2 grand” is taking place for a desired piece of Neo’s homemade software, hidden in the “book”. He gets the message from this deal to “follow” it for a further desired contact. PKD made his first Hollywood sale of a novel for 2 grand, the story that became Blade Runner, and as it was, especially then in 1967, unpredictable in outcome for his future.
In 1963, among five novels written that year, Philip Dick wrote his own “Simulacra.” The reviewer liked it. Give him a moment: The Simulacra: “The novel is set in a post-apocalyptic future, decades after China attacked the U.S… with atomic warheads. This gave rise to a population of mutants, similar in appearance to Neanderthals. People ride in self-driving cars. Ads are living creatures that can invade your home and car and must be killed [before they infect you with their products]…The Sons of Job are a neo-fascist political party. People live in giant communal apartment complexes and are required to take civics tests to stay in them. Many people want to escape this totalitarian society by immigrating to Mars. People buy android nuclear families just to have normal friends… The Simulacra pictures future America where psychic abilities are accepted as real, that time travel has been perfected, where people and animals can be artificially created and the results indistinguishable from real people and animals, that colonies exist on Mars and the Moon, and alien lifeforms can be commercialized. Piecing together Philip K Dick has to include his hometown of Berkeley California, where he entered high school just as the attack on Pearl Harbor put the entire region into full tiltwar mode. “Berkeley is home to the oldest campus in the University of California, [UCB], and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, which is managed and operated by the university. It also has the Graduate Theological Union, one of the largest religious studies institutions in the world. The MED, conceived and organized out of Columbia University in New York City, tapped Colonel Leslie R. Groves to run the logistics. Operation “ALSOS,” the atomic spy-counter-spy program under Groves, is not an acronym, rather a Greek appellation for “groves,” as in trees. Col. Groves’ achievement as an ACE to that point had been oversight of building the Pentagon from its first day of construction on September 11, 1941.
Exactly 18 years after the Pentagon’s birthday, on September 11, 1959 (=44), Lee Harvey Oswald left the El Toro MCAS ( Marine Corps Air Station) in Santa Ana (south of Los Angeles) on a special early discharge to take a bus ride home to Fort Worth Texas. Seven (=65/6+5=11) days later on the 18th, however, he was waiting in a New Orleans hotel with a ticket to steam across the Atlantic, purchased through the International Trade Mart (‘World Trade Center’) Travel Consultants Inc., where former Army Major Clay Shaw was Directing Manager (and cofounder according to sources). Oswald was all of 19 years old and would see his next birthday a month later, on October 18, in Moscow. Clay Shaw equals 92, like Pentagon and Dark Star.
Why did Oswald ride from Fort Worth to New Orleans (=126, or 9) to catch a ship to Europe when the ports of Houston and Galveston were closer and easier? Adding up the cluster of intelligence alphabets that oversaw him in the summer of 1963, in fact going back to his active duty in Atsugi (=77) seems like an answer. CIA=13, FBI=17, ONI=38, and AEC=9 –Atomic Energy Commission—makes this equation: 13+17+38+9=77. Architecture. The AEC(=9) used the ONI(=11) as its reservoir of security personnel. Rutledge, was released from classified status and provided for publication on November 11, 2011 (11-11-11); … “[Dee] was, all by himself, a Rand Corporation for the Tudor government of Elizabeth… He based his career soundly in mathematics. The towns of Palmyra, Manchester, and Fayette New York on the 77: Mormon lore holds that HillCumorah was the site of Joseph Smith’s visitation by the Angel Moroni, a tutelary spirit that instructed him for 3- 4 years before releasing the “golden plates” buried there. The golden plates were inscribed with an indecipherable script that Smith ‘translated’ into The Book of Mormon. Not many people today would consider a language to be technology, but indeed it has ever been: “In the beginning was the Word,” and from the Word poured forth the creation of the world. To name a thing was to know it and make it real (‘royal’)– to reveal and penetrate the mystery of its being, and as the ancients believed, to assume and use the power of that which is named. And so, by naming and realizing the world around us, a vast technology of assumed power was carried in the language of the people as they roamed and survived, invaded, settled and remembered themselves from time immemorial, or better said, from time’s immeasurable memory. Time itself, as a word—crone or chronology—is a gift from the crows, and by this remembrance the ‘crow’ people have carved an immortal desire to carry the technology of time and make a god of it, Cronos –or Saturn– ruling over this world from even the dark, cold remoteness of space. But, I didn’t start this post to talk about time, except to say that Time is speeding up and maybe that’s good. The end of Time, perhaps, is the end of the Crow people and they are not going without a fight—maybe you are Crow people too, from another flock, and fit for the battle. Crows are everywhere, they say. And in the huge composite of letters we call the English language, crows are also everywhere, lurking in the recesses of ancient words and mythologies among the crags of memory. Those words had no place of origin among the 400,000 and more chosen for the Oxford English Dictionary. The brethren of Oxford decided that the language should begin with Middle English, attempting the task for the first time in 1857. The bird-of-the-sea who flew with the dragon-headed ships that carried it were once the Raven-painted sails of the Norsmen who set these oracular birds on the shoulders of their highest lord Odin (Woden).
It is another medical fellowship that preserves the ravens of Odin (‘Thought’ and ‘Memory’) as its emblem, the Society of Radiology, which represents the invading technologies of radiation. Like Odin’s birds returning to their master, they bring secrets out of the darkness and ‘prophesy’ to the fates. A modern irony in the symbolic choice of Thought and Memory is that, like a pirate’s corsair (a crow word), these ray-vens steal for themselves the very substance of the names, causing (more crowish) the loss of both.

No one can say where or when the Crow people originated. Perhaps they were remnants of the great floods that created the Mediterranean. Robert Graves, who had a genius for the Welsh bardic tradition, wrote in his 1946 book The White Goddess, that the Greeks called them Pelasgians, or “seafarers,” whom they conquered or assimilated. Like the Indo-European Greeks who came later, the Pelasgians may have also come from the east through Anatolia and Canaan where they established their legacy of Phoenicia and customized their crow into a Phoenix.
“The Pelasgians claimed to be born from the teeth of the cosmic snake Ophion whom the Great Goddess in her character of Eurynome (‘wide rule’) had taken as her lover, thereby initiating the material Creation; but Ophion and Eurynome are Greek renderings of the original names. The ‘wide rule’ of Eurynome, it appears, was a great circle of interconnecting water systems encompassing the whole of Europe’s landmass from the Arctic, to the inland seas of the Steppe, southward to the Mediterranean and out again to the Atlantic—a clockwork of water and time, remade between the shattering cataclysms of destruction that “ate their children and drank their blood.” In those lost days, survival may have required the abilities of serpents and birds, and to them we look again to initiate Creation.

What I see in the logo is a couple of twin cube bits (qubits) floating in alignment with this white T, hanging together on invisible threads –entangled in magenta perpetuity (‘magen’ means ‘king’). The Internet of Bodies and Things, they’re telling us, is a vast phenomenon of quantum computing—a bio-digital convergence that is re-generating the world, re-generating economies, and resetting the scope of human activity. The New Creation story no longer depends on us “coming down from the trees,” which is still a metaphor for human origins, but as shown in the Jubilee, injecting their lit-bit entanglements up the tree. Undeniably, this is a re-versal of our creation story.
The Great Mother of the sea-bird folk has come down to us in myriad forms and symbols but are all representations of the Womb of Creation. She is the Tree of Life, a ‘twin’ creator in Bronze Age conception, and as Robert Graves reveals, the giver of language and letters. In the opening chapters of The White Goddess, Graves expands on the interpretation of a holy riddle called The Battle of the Trees, the ‘battle’ order (and calendar) of an ancient alphabet that conveys sacred knowledge of the Goddess. He also tells us that “the Pelasgians were called Dioi (‘divine’) because they alone of all the Greeks preserved the use of letters after the Deluge” –p226, ibid. Indeed, the Great Mother gives birth to the son who becomes her husband and hero: In ancient Syria she is Asherah (Astarte, Ashteroth), wife of EL, represented as a wooden “pole”, mast, or staff. Little imagination appends to our progress in defining TIME and DEATH as a heritage of “cut, slash, and burn” science. Kitchens and washrooms have become our modern laboratories and the domain of skillful ‘cleavers’ (clever) in their arts. A personal joke of mine is to mentally refer to Pierre and Marie Curie and their friends as the Val-Curies, whose contributions to 20th century science can hardly be overstated. In short, Theseus of Athens posed as a sacrificial ‘tribute’ to the powerful Minoans in order to kill the labyrinth-dwelling Minotaur and end the tributory practice of Crete. A curious turn of language for ‘cauldron’ in Welsh is the word ‘pair’ (or ‘peir’) and a secondary form ‘mair’, both translations for cauldron, according to Graves’s source. Their French homophones ‘pere’ and ‘mere’ describe parents, and interestingly, provide roots to the names Pierre and Marie which could otherwise be associated to ‘rock’ and ‘water’– an elemental pairing of the primal Earth itself. Or herself, as any sea bird would know. Perhaps in this ‘first couple’ of the Paris Pantheon, exhumed for the New Age Millenium, we have a Revelation of the Method that Michael Hoffman describes as the Alchemical Processing of Humanity:

This post is a “cut to the chase” about the War Upon You – the uncomplicated version of context—drawn forward from the Big Science coup d’etat of World War Two and our cultural entry into the Nuclear/Space Age. The Big Science of biology and genetics goes from “Tobacco Mosaic Virus to Coronavirus” in my review Planting Viruses, as an intertwining parallel to the high-energy technology that brought nuclear missiles, satellites and global communications to the planet. Radiation, whatever its source, is a biological weapon outside of the limited compatibility range in which we evolved. Radiation co-factored with chemistry –specifically biochemistry— is the basis of Life as we know it. Radiation and chemicals together makes, unmakes, and remakes the living world. Edward Teller, “father of the hydrogen bomb”, remarked that his weapons would “change mankind’s relationship with the universe”. Despite his own chronic health problems related to his work, Teller maintained that “radiation is good for you.”
The very “fine forces” that hold us together as living beings are electro-chemical bonds (not ‘flesh and blood’ per se) under constant over-riding assault from ‘technology’, be it frequencies, gmo foods, medicines, pollutants and the rest. That said, Planting Viruses is following the trail of documentation from TMV to CoV to show how public attention has been diverted away from the real causes of modern epidemics to the pseudoscientific Germ Theory of disease by way of planting viruses from plants! It’s a big, slow story in need of a Teller, you could say, to give it impact — but a great deal of the evidence is straightforward at the laboratory level. The author of those words, Richard L. Bruno in The Polio Paradox, appears to sincerely believe in the vaccine prevention of polio and writes nothing about the radiation and chemical cause of polio-like disease, a newly immanent crisis in the United States as the country emerged from World War II and catapulted into the Nuclear Age. Doctors in the 1940s attempting to ‘isolate’ poliovirus (serum) from polio patients were overwhelmingly unable to find the infectious agents. The mandate to prevent polio with a ‘cure’ in the era of radioactive fallout seems incentive enough to “plant” a virus and use the vaccine in a new kind of “vaccine diplomacy” among nuclear-armed nations.
* Mahoney Type 1 poliovirus
The “wild” Mahoney type 1 poliovirus was collected and filtered into solution “virus” in 1941 by Dr. Thomas Francis of the Rockefeller Hospital. Personal physician to the Rockefeller family, Dr. Francis at the time had been newly set up at the University of Michigan on U.S. Army business in the capacity of a public health laboratory. The Mahoney sample came from the pooled feces of three Cleveland area siblings who were asymptomatic –healthy!—and became the “type species” (first to be discovered) of the picornaviruses, or “prototype” as Eckard Wimmer noted in his 2002 created-from-scratch documents. The Mahoney strain procured in the lab, it turned out, was the deadliest of the recent polio filtrates. Work on another new polio vaccine, ongoing since the 1930s, however, was delayed; Thomas Francis and his collaborator Jonas Salk were set on the task of making an influenza vaccine during the war. Clinically observed as sickness, there was no difference between polio and flu, but polio was to retain its distinctively special character as “infantile paralysis”—by then, a political definition of great value. All “influenza-like” disease, we now know, can be produced from exposure to radiation and chemicals.
Down Under in Australia’s city of Melbourne, Frank McFarlane Burnet was set on the same task of making an influenza vaccine for his government in WWII, to which he had also recommended the making of bioweapons in the form of intestinal agents. Burnet favorably selected influenza virus over the poliovirus for influenza’s quality of stability in lab experiments –having a larger genome it was less likely to mutate out of existence as poliovirus would were it not for vaccination and revaccination.
Contemporary investigations reveal that plant viruses are normal commensals of the human gut, as they should be, able to be collected and reconstituted from newborn, exclusively breast-fed infants. In a very small but significant study, modern observers noted that 17 plant viruses were collected from newborn human feces, including tobacco mosaic virus, the “type species” of the helical rod, filamentous group. None of the parents of these newborns used or worked with tobacco, although it is known that TMV ‘infects’ many hundreds of plant species, including the most valuable food crops and flowers. Tobacco Mosaic Virus is the first virus, the prototypical “filtrate” substance obtained and ‘confirmed’ as a disease agent in 1892. With this tobacco virus “tool”, I propose to demonstrate how TMV mutants and by-products became the “vaccine” viruses of modern allopathic practice.

Patrick Bouvier Kennedy, who was born August 7, 1963 and died 2 days later on August 9, may in hindsight be the most famous fallout baby ever born. His older brother John had a mild case of the same disease, hyaline membrane disease, which is since called Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS). The tragic irony in Patrick’s death was that it coincided with two landmark events in atomic history; the anniversary of the plutonium bomb dropped on Nagasaki and the confirmation of the Limited Test Ban Treaty achieved by his father.

During atmospheric bombing, global fallout concentrated with the capriciousness of wind and rain. In 1953, for example, dangerous levels of radionuclides were measured in the rainwater in Troy, New York. Unknowingly, contaminated dairy farms continued to pool milk and ship it to market. Fallout took on statistical significance.“It was the ‘bump’ in the line– a bump involving roughly 375,000 American babies –that Sternglass attributed to radioactive bomb fallout. Particularly important in that calculation was iodine 131, which could travel through the placenta and irradiate the tiny prenatal thyroid. By destroying cells in that crucial gland in its early stage of development, radiation would cause stunted growth, brain damage, and underdeveloped lungs that could make it impossible for the new baby to survive the first few days of life. But it was not just radioactive iodine. The long-lived calcium mimic strontium-9o, measured after accidents in 1968-69 at the Savannah River weapons plant caused a “peak in infant mortality observed three years after the accidents [and] may have been caused by accumulated strontium-90 in the bones of prospective mothers… Damaged immune systems increase the risks of infection and can make a pregnant woman reject her fetus as a foreign body. As a result, the risks of miscarriage, premature births, low birth-weight babies and infant mortality can increase dramatically.” p51, Deadly Deceit
*In Silent Spring, published in 1963, Rachel Carson wrote “The most alarming of all man’s assaults upon the environment is the contamination of air, earth, rivers, and the sea with dangerous and even lethal materials… in this universal contamination of the environment, chemicals are the sinister and little-recognized partners of radiation in changing the very nature of its life. Strontium-90, released through nuclear explosions into the air, comes to earth in rain or drifts down as fallout, lodges in soil, enters into the grass or corn or wheat grown there, and in time takes up its abode in the bones of a human being there to remain until his death.” p97, ibid.
A book about the case of Karen Silkwood, who was run off the road and killed on her way to deliver incriminating documents against her employer Kerr-McGee Nuclear Corporation in 1974, is instructive on the subject of trafficking. [At the plant] Workers visually inspected each pellet to see if it was cracked or chipped and then loaded them all into eight-foot-long, pencil thin stainless steel rods… If the rods passed inspection, workers wrapped each one in plastic, bundled 100 rods together and lowered them into floor wells to await the AEC shotgun riders or Wells Fargo for the ride back to Washington.
The rods, now fully inspected fuel pins, were destined for the AEC’s Fast Flux Test Facility (FFTF) at Hanford, [WA] under the management of Westinghouse. The FFTF tested fuel cores for the fast breeder reactor the AEC hoped to build in Clinch River, Tennessee [near Oak Ridge]. Fueled by plutonium instead of pure uranium, fast breeders are designed to make more plutonium than they burn. Kerr-McGee had a fixed-price contract to make 12,916 rods for the first test core and 3380 for the second. NUMEC, later purchased by Babcock and Wilcox, the firm that designed and built the Three Mile Island reactor, supplied Westinghouse with the other half of the fuel pins.

…When Kerr-McGee bought into the uranium business in 1952, Uncle Sam was its only customer, and Baptist Bob was there, standing under the flag, to help his country. He arranged through Admiral Lewis Strauss, chairman of the AEC (Kerr had voted for his confirmation as chairman), for Kerr-McGee to sell the AEC all the uranium the company could dig.
By 1959, Kerr-McGee had an AEC contract worth $300 million. Senator Albert Gore of Tennessee, chairman of the Raw Materials Subcommittee, had to approve the contract. Gore just happened to be Kerr’s friend and a co-owner with Kerr of the Kermac Ranch in Oklahoma.
Gordon Weller, president of the Uranium Institute, which represented the hard-pressed uranium companies Kerr-McGee was squeezing out of the mines, decided to take on Bob Kerr. “We believe it can be positively proved,” he wrote Attorney General Robert Kennedy, calling for an investigation of Kerr-McGee, “that..in the production, processing and sale of uranium materials to the AEC..those with political influence got the markets. Members of Congress who chose to personally engage in uranium soon became the leading producers…”
…It wasn’t just oil and uranium. Kerr-McGee filled its corporate sails with helium, a gas needed for rockets and missiles….

Of all the subject matter in this blog, the collective weight gathers on the topic of the Disease Continuum, so named as a man-made phenomenon of modern times. I’m challenging myself here to grasp its scope, locate its origins, describe its momentum and filter out a sensible narrative.
Like an exhausted competitor in an old-time Depression-era Dance Marathon, I’m leaning hard on my ‘partners’, relying on refreshment and support until the music stops. Work on polioviruses helped to prove that intestinal “Enteroviruses can infect all tissues of the human body. The tropism of each virus for certain tissues is not well understood…”. Reconstituting pathogens in the form of gut bacteria and viruses was learned early. Simon Flexner designed experiments in 1897 to alter the properties of harvested human colon bacilli and turn them virulent several years before he became the director of the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research. Spanish Flu was another complex of neurological, hemorrhagic, and mixed illnesses confounded in wartime with lingering and permanent disabilities in survivors. I wrote of it here https://jenniferlake.wordpress.com/2009/07/18/tracking-the-spanish-flu/ as an additional consequence of nitrate toxicosis, opening material for this blog as the H1N1 was advancing. My look back in history then, at influenza, was also looking like polio and AIDS moreso than any respiratory disease. Spanish Flu was a special case, rather a complicated set of conditions, and could not be a beginning for the “DC” but its extension. The pandemic of 1889, however, distinguishes itself with consistency as a conundrum of “confusion in diagnosis”. The Philadelphians wrote, “The initial nasal catarrh so associated with the name of influenza as to be popularly synonymous with it, often failed to appear early and was manifested later amid other affectations… vertigo and unsteady gait [was how] some cases began their attacks (in the first year) and in relapses these symptoms were often forerunners of renewed attack… The influenzal poison, whatever its nature, exhibits in protracted cases a likeness to malarial poisoning in symptoms and length of duration… The most severe and protracted cases were generally in the educated classes… Influenza cannot be a filth disease, as its initial outbreak was among the wealthy rather than the poor.“
Suggestive of something malaria-like, the Pennsylvania doctors concluded uncertainly that they were dealing with a blood-borne agent vectored similarly (by mosquitos) in a fashion of today’s West Nile Virus. What is most interesting to me about the flu pandemic is that it followed so closely on the heels of the world’s first major polio epidemics in Sweden, which occurred in Stockholm shortly after modern vaccination practices came into being. Vaccination’s foremost advocate, Pasteur, found an institutional home in Paris during 1887-1888 with an international cast of fellows and more interesting still, the first credited scientist to isolate virus with disease-transmitting filtrate, Dimitri Ivanovsky, joined the University of St. Petersburg in 1887. By 1892, botanist Ivanovsky had proved his transmissable”virus” theory with the Tobacco Mosaic Virus, marking the birth of virology in history.
The next year, 1893, with the Russian Flu still circulating, the United States had its first recorded outbreaks of epidemic polio.

POLIO (poliomyelitis) was a bugaboo of unknown causes when it emerged in the 19th century, called infantile paralysis for its most recognizable signs as a children’s disease. In this “golden age” of medicine (referring to the next link), a sparse timeline which appears dedicated to polio demonstrates the importance attached to it, retrospectively.
“Confusion in diagnosis”, however, is polio’s outstanding historical feature. Even as late as the public distribution of Salk’s polio vaccine (the IPV) in 1955, polio was often diagnosed as grippe –the French-language equivalent of influenza– with significant intestinal involvement. Albert Sabin proved in 1947 that (enough) polioviruses caused grippe. For the longest time what could not be proven was that polioviruses caused polio.
Researcher/author Jim West writes, “Mainstream science admits that most viruses are harmless, yet the word “virus ” adds to a biased and highly promoted language of fear regarding nature… early virus studies considered virus filtrates to be a poison… My site has several articles by the Nobel Laureate Alexis Carrel regarding injections of highly dilute poisons, similar to formaldehyde in Salk vaccine, which was 1:4000 concentration. Carrel injected carcinogens at 1:5000 to 1:250000 and caused reliably, cancer in chickens… Central nervous system diseases other than polio continue in the U.S. and throughout the world: acute flaccid paralysis, chronic fatigue syndrome, encephalitis, meningitis, muscular sclerosis… The unique correlations between CNS disease and CNS toxins present a variety of research opportunities not only in medical science, but political science, philosophy, media studies, psychology, and sociology.” http://www.whale.to/a/west_h.html
Mr. West’s well made and far-reaching point, unfortunately, is just not far-reaching enough. Janine Roberts, too, followed the West path, augmenting the polio resources and writing, “I had begun my research by looking at the many contaminants in the vaccine, but finally was forced to conclude: 1) that polio..was not primarily caused by the nominated ‘poliovirus’ –but primarily by human environmental pollution, particularly..insecticides… 2) that the disease was not stopped by the vaccine, but many cases were deliberately hidden by relabelling it –this led to the vaccine being attributed with a fictitious victory…[and]… 3) that polio might well be curable –if it is treated as a toxin-caused disease.” http://www.sparks-of-light.org/poliomyth.html Broadly speaking, all diseases not classed as genetic in origin are toxin-caused. The statements above are a benign way of not being wrong but they’re also a clever way of not being forthright. Perhaps for some researchers it’s a beginning –not my beginning– that ‘settles’ prematurely.

The authors and editors of ‘age of autism’, Dan Olmstead and Mark Blaxill, cite West and Roberts in an exemplary description of early pesticide-caused polio (from 1893 onwards, incriminating the poisons arsenic, lead, mercury and DDT) and then appear to lose track of the subject –polio– and follow pesticides, venturing conclusions that neither West nor Roberts suggest: “To summarize our theory: Polio is a virus, contagious like all viruses… When it is introduced into the human body, it has the capacity to enter the nervous system when nerves are damaged. Damage can occur many ways: mechanically through needle puncture or surgery, or, we propose, biochemically via pesticidal or other toxic exposure. Once the virus enters the nervous system, it becomes dangerous..[and] spreads through the nervous system via “retrograde axonal transport… lead[ing] to paralysis or death.”
The failures and limitations of polio researchers presented so far unanimously neglect to actually follow the occurrence of the disease –if they did, they would fall over a body of evidence that associates polio with influenza and the most potent of co-factors that is a cause on its own, radiation. Remember SARS in 2003? Looking back on SARS led me to something dubbed the Minimal Genome Project which I found a lot of experimental documentation for between 1998 and 2000, including the creation of completely new amino acids –until this, every biological entity that has ever existed used the same available 20 amino acids. SARS patients were found to be infected with a novel corona virus and, coincidently, a novel corona virus was created in a lab with a new amino acid in 2001. Since the original outbreak, the SARS creature seems to have disappeared. Was it part of an experiment to create a new “minimal genome organism” ? Indirect evidence is tantalizingly suggestive that it could be the case. Under appropriate conditions, given a strand of DNA, DNA polymerase produces a second “Watson-Crick” complementary strand, in which every C is replaced by a G, every G by a C, every A by a T and every T by an A. For example, given a molecule with the sequence CATGTC, DNA polymerase will produce a new molecule with the sequence GTACAG. The polymerase enables DNA to reproduce, which in turn allows cells to reproduce and ultimately allows you to reproduce. With DNA polymerase to “process”, restriction enzymes to “cut” and ribozymes to “paste”, the working parts of DNA computers look to be on hand with the exception maybe of genetically stable, high-fidelity replicators. http://www.jci.org/articles/view/19386
I speculate that cancer cells are very useful for this purpose with their immortal qualities, and in so many cases, engineered recombinant microbes (i.e. viruses) in current therapy use end up causing cancers, that the cancer cells, and controlling the cells, in the first place is the most useful approach. Minimal genomes, real and artificial, look like other lines of pursuit running apace for the ultimate creation of DNA computer life. This general field of study is called bioinformatics http://www.med.nyu.edu/rcr/Fordham/ and another of its Holy Grails is finding perfect cell-based delivery systems. The DNA computer ‘proof of principle’ by the Israelis (above) used a “stochastic molecular automaton” to provide the computer input, meaning a precise-targeting agent –I’m perusing the literature to find the exact agents– but this fundamentally defines the action of viruses. And the genetically small ones, like SV40 monkey virus and polioviruses are already human-adapted and under intense ‘quantitative’ experimentation to see how well they deliver genetic information.
November 22, 2002 — “Craig Venter’s ‘minimal genome’ project announced Wednesday is not about creating a new life form…[that comes later with Synthia]. The high profile project was just funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) with $3 million going to the Institute for Biological Energy Alternatives (IBEA), one of the nonprofit research institutes Venter founded after leaving..Celera Genomics early this year.
“The question of the minimal genome for an organism [–the base gene set required for life–] is always ‘minimal in which environment,’ said Francisco J. Silva of the University of Valencia in Spain. Silva and colleagues..are studying the genome of the insect endosymbiont Buchnera aphidicola, which appears to have an even smaller genome than that of the parasite Mycoplasma genitalium, Venter’s organism of choice.
“..pathogenic bacteria usually have more genes than their harmless relatives do..but the disease-related genes are not essential to life, so they could be the first catagory of genes a scientist would jettison from a minimal genome organism… ‘A minimal genome organism’ [Silva] said, ‘will be a prisoner of the laboratory dish where it lives, and will be unable to compete with the outer world.’

Another important fact is that viruses are not organisms or cells and have no strategies for survival! The authors of the ‘error catastrophe’ paper are really telling us that the “edge of viability” on which polioviruses (and others) exist needs maintenance to prevent their extinction. Circulating polioviruses were determined in 2000 to be all vaccine-derived, and the buzz around the conference tables of the WHO and other agencies brought up the issue of stopping the inoculation programs. Very soon thereafter
a complete scratch poliovirus made from mail-order chemicals blitzed the science headlines invoking a new threat from terrorists. As a mode of comparison, organisms do have an array of survival strategies.

“Pictures appear to confirm the worst – that deadly spent fuel rods were exposed to blasts”
March 12 – News, at this writing, is that the reactor building of Unit 1 has exploded, injuring 4 people. The evacuation area has expanded from a 6-mile to a 12-mile radius. Edwin Lyman of the Union of Concerned Scientists made a statement to CNN that the accident could be “far worse” than expected. By the evidence, a meltdown at Fukushima is underway.
We never get the truth from officials about nuclear accidents. If they admit an accident, they deny the danger, but explosions (venting) and evacuations are nothing less than the minimum requirement of a major accident-in-progress. The mainstream news is already announcing that there is no damage to Japan’s “reactor itself”, contradicting the widespread notice of confirmed melting fuel.
In 1979, Three Mile Island did not explode. We were told there had been a partial meltdown and elevated levels of fallout were not significant enough to cause a public risk, but a group of Japanese visitors who came specifically to learn about TMI found a very different situation.
…”Interviewees said on the day of the accident, and for the next couple of days, a powdery ash fell and collected on everything. From the first day, Wednesday March 28, a strong and nauseating metallic taste began affecting them. People and animals stumbled and fell. They felt numbness in their legs and tingling or burning, sometimes a peppery rash. Veterinarian Robert Weber reported in his recollection made in 1982, “Immediately after the accident at TMI, we had many sheep and goats that couldn’t get up. Also, we had troubles with sheep just being found dead. Goats just being found dead…through that summer of 1979.” Weber said there were high numbers of stillbirths and an inability of the pregnant animals to deliver. Local farmers often went through him and filed reports with the Agriculture bureau, only to learn later from officials that no such reports existed. By 1982, he said “Cancer is our big deal now…We are finding the cancers in the uterus, the mammary systems, the lymphatics…I see this curve”.
Betty Fawber said of her animals, “After the accident happened…we’d go up and there’d be chickens that were dead. Just one at a time. Unexplained. We had maybe about six like that…The chickens started dying like that, I’d say, maybe 6 months after the accident…I had two rabbits and one had a litter of 7 bunnies, but they were all born dead. They looked perfect but they were dead.” Betty was sensitive to the ‘venting’, as were others, developing a burning rash on her skin and in her throat and sinuses. She said,” The first year..there were about 47 times when this burning happened….45times..weaccounted [in the newspaper] that they did vent….Last year [1982] sometime..wesaworheardthattheyweredeliberatelyventing each day”…
Because of the “combined” incomprehensible destruction in Japan, effects like those at TMI will not be observable as radiological hazards. Fallout emanating from Fukushima will be masked by chemical and biological threats which will be enhanced by radiation.
President Obama called for the construction of 45 new nuclear power plants. The U.S. is in the midst of an ideological “nuclear renaissance” –officials have every reason NOT to tell us of radioactive fallout danger. During the 1950s, when “peaceful atoms” were to justify the creation of weapons and usher in the age of global cooperation, an intense climate of suppression and secrecy surrounded the medical findings of scientists. During the Chernobyl crisis, there was political currency in reporting a fallout threat, and still the world waited a decade, and longer, to learn more about what happened. Many people have said that the Chernobyl accident forced the USSR into the policy of Glasnost with its neighbors and contributed greatly to the dissolution of the Soviet system. Nuclear accidents are everybody’s business.
Dr. Edwin Lyman, who made an alarming statement on CNN, Saturday 3-12-11, about an accident-in-progress, is familiar with the Fukushima reactors and the potential for disaster.
“In 1999, quality data on MOX fuel made by BNFL in Britain for the Japanese..proved to be falsified. Belgonucleaire (BN) in Belgium, which made MOX fuel for the Japanese..is now also accused of falsification of its quality control data. In August 2000 [a coalition] started a court action in the Fukushima District Court seeking an injunction against Tepco… Dr. Koyama stated he found irregularities in four of fourteen MOX fuel assemblies for Fukushima 1-3… A second study was publshed in December 2000.. done by Dr. Edwin Lyman, scientific director for the Nuclear Control Institute (NCI) in Washington D.C…. The report claims that the MOX fuel made by Belgonucleaire for Tepco is tainted. It says the MOX fuel is made in an old facility with poor production and quality control standards, which are even below the standards of BNFL’s old MOX plant at Sellafield… If Tepco loads MOX fuel in their reactors, it will significantly increase the risks of a nuclear accident with catastrophic effects involving the release of large amounts of deadly plutonium particles into the atmosphere, said Frank Barnaby of the Oxford Research Group, co-author of the study.”

(March 15) — Contamination is at dangerous levels locally in Japan with plumes of radiation feeding a fallout cloud that is dispersing whichever way the winds blow. High altitude fallout should already be streaming over North America at low levels. Radioactivity levels will pick up as fallout pushes out of the jetstream and lower altitude currents reach populations on the ground. Americans on the West Coast should take precautions today. Fallout is NOT like a “chest x-ray”–it’s a chemically dirty mix of biologically incompatible radioisotopes, many toxic for days, some for weeks, and others for months and years. Take an appropriate iodine supplement to prevent the uptake of radioactive iodine 131. The best prevention is to limit outdoor activity and wear long pants/sleeves; change and put the clothes in the laundry. Store a drinking water supply for a minimum of 30 days. Stay out of the rain. Curtail or postpone plans for voluntary x-rays or other non-necessary medical proceedures, at least for the coming month and as long as dangerous levels of fallout are emitted, adding 2 weeks. Nuclear fallout is a cumulative poison. Preventing avoidable exposure NOW will help us when exposure and contamination is unavoidable.
Vaccines and antibiotics should particularly be avoided for 30 days following even low-level radiation exposure.

Medically useful X-rays were developed in 1895 by Wilhelm Roentgen who successfully x-rayed his wife’s hand after a 15 minute exposure. The news went around the world in December and by January of 1896, x-ray machines were being built by any and everyone with enough electrical know-how to produce them. X-ray practitioners immediately began offering treatments and therapy and it was not uncommon to receive an x-ray lasting 30 minutes to an hour. The dosages of radioactivity at that time were unknown. You were just as likely to get your ‘treatment’ from an electrical engineer as from a doctor. In 1896 Chicago, Emil Grubbe and R. Ludlum ran a treatment course of 18 x-ray sessions for breast cancer. Today, thanks to the contemporary work of John Gofman, we know that x-rays cause breast cancer, but in the 1890s the novelty of x-rays caught on like wildfire.
In April of 1897, the first professional journal appeared, the Archives of Clinical Skiagraphy. Shortly after, the American X-ray Journal began publishing. In 1900, the newly formed American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) published its own magazine, the American Journal of Roentgenology and within two years the ARRS was dominated by members of the American Medical Association. Treatments ranged over the common and minor ailments as well as the severe; headaches, stomach aches, ulcers, arthritis, sore joints, acne, rashes, facial hair, moles, earaches and fatigue. Patients of all ages and pregnant women were encouraged to seek treatment. Despite early warnings from doctors who were witnessing horrific side-effects, x-ray applications increased. By 1907, at least 11 devastating deaths in the research community induced by x-rays were on the record, including Clarence Dally, Thomas Edison’s glass-blower and technician.
The discovery of radium, and the broad news of it in 1903, followed a similar course in medical applications although the associated radioactivity was known and documented by its discoverers, the Curies and Henri Becquerel in France. Within a span of less than two decades, complementary technology with ‘radiotracers’ was further advancing the cause of nuclear medicine. The James Lind Library maintains early records of radium use but both X-ray and radium treatment were mostly delivered in the private setting of doctors’ offices, remaining unregulated with no particular requirements of reporting, and therefore unaccountable. In the 1980s, wide surveys to assess the competency and accuracy of x-ray equipment and technicians turned up an amazing degree of disparities. Irregular dosages, inadequate training and sloppy safety measures are still a primary issue in this field.
Beyond the history of abusive and extensive use of x-rays in medical treatment is the application of this technology for industrial research purposes. Chemists and biologists unendingly explored the interaction of x-rays with every known substance of matter. Chemical analysis and the mapping of molecules with x-rays developed into the study of “crystallography”. Radiologists were trained to perfect imaging techniques for a wide range of study in chemistry, physics and medicine with seemingly infinite possibilties of discovery in 3 dimensions. Breakthroughs in electricity and engineering allowed the x-ray machine model to serve new inventions in radio transmission, lighting, and the “cyclotrons” that became centerpieces in physics research, but beyond the familiar conveniences are the less publicly known experiments involving biology.
Bacteria, molds, yeasts, viruses, serums, filtrates, cells and tissue cultures were all subjects of irradiation with X-rays. The object of these experiments was to observe the effects on microscopic organisms. Mutations were observed very early as dosage and intensity became understood and monitored in the laboratories. As larger and more powerful x-ray machines were built and tried for medical imaging, large lab animals became the subjects of “dose” experiments. In a three-part paper published in Rockefeller’s Journal of Experimental Medicine, a fatal dose of x-rays given to a dog in 1919 revealed the following:

Genetics research, enabled by X-rays, began to flower in the 1920s. Behind the famous researchers, in the root layers of the written experiments, are the mutant lifeforms that taught the experimenters other ways of manipulating living matter. A new simulated ‘evolution’ based on characteristic selection was brought into being. Mutants became industrial workhorses as well as fascinating subjects of observation, selected for qualities of “high yield” replication and other peculiar properties of chemistry. Mutant bacteria provide the marketplaces of the world with a variety antibiotics, vitamins, and solvents. In the 1950s it was projected that mutant yeasts would provide a high-protein food source that would solve problems of world hunger. In my article, “The Vegan Conspiracy”, I address some potential drawbacks in feeding the world on mutant yeasts.
Other drawbacks, not yet addressed, are the possibilities that mutated lifeforms bring new diseases into the world. I have yet to find a major experimental disease that does not involve the historic use of x-ray mutated organisms. It’s been simply a matter of accessing enough source material.
In upcoming posts on “Bacteriophage”, I’ll include links from the experiments to highlight the use of x-rays in biological research. Two researchers previously mentioned were adepts in physics. Max Delbruck was trained as a nuclear physicist and as he tells his own story, encouraged by Niels Bohr and Wolgang Pauli to take up “radiation biology”. Salvador Luria, who attained an MD after a long mediocre school performance, trained as a radiologist after med school and joined the team of Enrico Fermi at the University of Rome for a year before the pressing War split the group apart in 1938.
