Yatta~!

This is the first time I have joined a JPop/Anime singing contest :) I'm so glad for this experience! This contest's grand prize is actually an all-expense paid trip to Japan!

My co-fangirl actually just persuaded me to submit an application and sample CD for audition. She said that there's no harm in trying. Since I got an "okay" from my parents (though my dad was a bit reluctant XD), I sent an application to the Embassy of Japan. I sang Ohara Sakurako's Chippoke na Ai no Uta and YUI's I Remember You. This audition songs were really rushed and I only recorded it for one night without any practice since when I decided to join the contest, it was already near the deadline ^_^'

I was not really expecting to get their reply a week or 2 weeks after. I actually got a text from one of their organizer while I was fixing my application for Med school >_< and I can't help but feel nervous and excited when I delivered the news to my parents :) I told them that I was one of the 15 participants that were chosen to sing in the Grand Finals of the contest :) the contest was dated July 23, 2016 (saturday).

I had a lot of songs in mind when I knew that I got into the finals... Since the contest do not allow pirated/downloaded music, I had to rely on my singles here at home. So I thought about singing ARASHI or Hey!Say!JUMP songs, since I only have CDs of them >_<

But I thought that my voice (or rather key range of my voice) wouldn't match theirs since they're all guys TT___TT So I considered playing Ohara Sakurako's songs with my guitar then singing it. Should I sing Ashita Mo? Ganbattatte Iin Janai? Hitomi? But it's too risky for me... When I get too nervous, I might mess up the chords, and my performance, so it's better if I look for their karaoke/instrumental versions....

I'm really glad that one of my friends had Ohara Sakurako's Manatsu no Taiyou and Kimi wo Wasurenai yo and Nishiuchi Mariya's Arigatou Forever...! and so I borrowed her CDs and decided on which song I should sing.

I was torn between (two lovers XD) Kimi wo Wasurenai yo and Arigatou Forever... In the end, my dad chose for me. And he chose Arigatou Forever... :)

And so I started practicing the song. I also raised the key of the song half a key higher because my brother told me that it suits me better :)

But unfortunately... since I was working at my Dad's clinic (and my other brother has both cold and cough), I GOT SICK A WEEK BEFORE THE FINALS TT____TT

I had a serious case of runny nose and dry cough that is so worse since I can't get it out of my upper respiratory tract TT__TT

It's now or never.

I took multivitamins twice a day, anti-allergy for my cold once a day, and antibiotics for my cough once a day. And I drank LOTS and LOTS of water.

Because of me getting sick, I can no longer reach the higher notes in the song I'm gonna sing that's why I had to return the song to it's original key :( after a week of fighting my cold and cough, luckily, i was cured of my cold 2 days before the finals but I still had dry cough until the day itself :(

I practiced with the help of my mother though I was sick and here comes July 23....

That day, I prayed to God that I do not wish for any prize, I only wish that I lose my nervousness when I stand on stage. I just wished for a proper delivery of my performance.

Out of the 15 contestants, I was the 10th performer. So I had to wait for a long time before my turn comes. And when I had to sing, thank God for I did not feel any nervousness, my heart did not beat rapidly and I knew I was able to give it my best :)

The other performers were good too :) I knew some were better than me :) And I was glad to have known them :)

When they annouced the winners, I was so happy :) Though I wasn't part of the top three, I was one of those that were given Special Awards :)

For me, I received Doraemon's Special Award :) (arigatou Doraemon! <3) It was more than enough to make me happy :) though it was my first time joining, though I'm not wishing for any prize, and though I still have cough XD, I'm thankful to the Lord that he gave me this award and I did not leave the competition empty-handed :)

Of course i'm also thankful to my family that was very supportive :) And to some of my friends who also came to the event :)

This experience was very meaningful to me and I know that I will not forget this :)
As one of my relatives told me, I should just keep on joining :) They said that I did a very good job and that I deserve the award :)

Thanks be to God for this wonderful day and experience that will stay in my memory forever. ^_^


P.S.: While waiting for the program to start (and during the program proper), they actually played a lot of Johnny's songs! Especially ARASHI! Omygosh! I was fangirling right there! >_< <3 When they played Hadashi no Mirai, I was dancing and singing and my seatmate asked me: "You even have dance steps?" so I told her: "Yes! This is part of the song >_< You don't know ARASHI?" "No I don't..."
Then WISH started to play... "oh! this song! do you know Hana Yori Dango?" "Yes!" "ARASHI sang this song! and Domyouji is one of the members!" (and then I started blabbing about Arashi and Johhny's, etc..............) hahahahaha XD
Also, one of the bands who played intermission numbers actually did Yuuki 100%. And like an idiot, I danced to the song (while sitting of course XD) according to what I have learned from Nakayama Yuma, Yamada Ryosuke and Chinen Yuri's dance lesson XD I SWEAR I WAS THE ONLY ONE DANCING AT OUR SEATS THAT TIME XD (but my brother told me that he actually shouted "Hey! Hey!" at the parts before the chorus HAHAHAHA XD)

I am totally grateful to God and to the professors who are very much kind in giving grades XD

btw, the grading system in La Salle schools is quite different from others... the highest is 4.00 while the passing is 1.00 :)
