Jamf Parent empowers parents to manage their children's school-issued devices. Using the intuitive interface, you can restrict which apps your child can access on their device, receive notifications when your child arrives at school, and schedule homework time or bedtime by using Device Rules to allow or restrict certain apps. This button enables parents to remove multiple configured settings and restrictions from a child's device at once. Resolved Issues - On the Device Rules screen, the first device rule created correctly displays directly beneath Create Device Rules instead of a blank row. - When a parent pairs with a child's device manually instead of via QR code and then logs in again, the child's device no longer paired multiple times. 5.1.2 Jan 7 In Jamf Pro integrations, editing an active Ad Hoc device rule by modifying the app category now works correctly and the new restrictions are correctly applied to the child's device. In Jamf School integrations, Ad Hoc device rules can no longer be configured. Previously configured Ad Hoc device rules still display in Device Rules. The configured name will display on the supervising devices list and will apply to all subsequent child device pairings. If all child devices are unpaired from the parent device, users will be prompted to enter a parent device name again when a new child device is paired. Resolved Issues - When a child device and parent device are unpaired in Jamf School, the child device no longer displays in Jamf Parent. - For users using the Jamf Pro integration, unpairing a child device from a parent device now works correctly. 4.4.5 08/05/2025 Device Pairing Enhancements for Jamf School The workflow for pairing parent and child devices has been improved to provide a more secure experience. The following enhancements have been added: - On a parent device, users can now view a list of all supervising devices for child's device tapping the child's name. Note: If the list displays devices the parent does not recognize or want supervising the child's device, you can unpair them in Jamf School. Navigate to Users > Users in the sidebar and click the child's name, then click Edit details. Next to Parents in the Jamf Parent section, click X next to the name of the device you want to unpair from the child's device, then click Save. - On a child device, users can now view a list of all supervising devices by navigating to Settings and tapping Authorize parent. - A notification now displays on both the parent and child devices when the devices are paired. - The device pairing QR code is now valid for 15 minutes before it expires and a new code must be used. - On a parent device, users can now unpair a child device by navigating to Settings and tapping the device they want to unpair in the Paired devices section.
