06:28 pm WMA Lossless vs Apple Lossless round 1 Artist: Gorillaz Album: Demon Days WMA - 312 MB Apple - 326 MB Apple is 4.5% larger than WMA for this album.
Artist: Modest Mouse Album: Everywhere and his Nasty Parlour Tricks WMA 192 MB Apple 199 MB Apple is 3.6% larger than WMA for this album.
Artist: The Who Album: Then and Now WMA 506 MB Apple 501 MB WMA is 1.0% larger than Apple for this album. Apple wins a round here. The victory isn't by a large margin, and neither did a very good job of compression (74-75%). I would guess that because these are from older recordings there would be a lot of mostly imperceptable static that mp3 encoding would remove, but that make lossless encoding more costly.

07:28 pm - Dumbjournal.com
frostyiscute420 Frosty sets out to answer the eternal question, "Why do bad things happen to bad people?" The question, "why do people type huge walls of text to no one," remains unanswered. Highlight: Almost every comment is from a random search, and there are a lot of them. My favorite is the fifteen year old boy who will kill people who don't forward e-mails.
a_scattered_me Scattered is a random otaku who thinks that she is an artist despite having no actual artistic talent, but drawing something with a passing resemblance to manga is a fair substitute. Highlight: Scattered hates her mother's "obnoxious, uncouth, uneducated, and closed-minded" friend so she calls the woman a cow to her face repeatedly. She probably at least thinks she is clever.
fathomless I like this. It shows you what it would be like to have a monitor that is three inches wide, and nine inches tall. Highlight: Purple text on a black background, prodigious use of font sizes.
badnewsblizz Badnewsblizz manages to impress without any public entries. Is putting your content in a tiny sidebar the new thing now? Highlight: Links that blur on hover will surely be this decades blink tag.

08:53 am - Random LJ communities.
nazi_furs This community is probably not liked by their fellow furries. This is not a small task when you consider that at this point the whole furry fandom is based around getting turned on by animals.
They claim that the community isn't hate based. The picture that a member posts with a nazi dragon/jewish mouse bondage seems to indicate that if they don't actually hate jews then they certainly marginalize the holocaust.
anthroatkins For furry fans on the Atkins diet
This needs no further discussion.

04:10 pm Beware the bate and switch that is www.freeasphost.com. Of course it isn't like it cost me anything except time. I'm not surprised because the rule of the internet in the last few years has changed from "If you look hard enough you can find something for free," to "If they offer you something free watch your back because they are trying to bugger you."
I guess it is brinkster for me. Does anyone know of another .net host for less than $10/month?

11:25 am I failed to convince several people that the Martingale system does not work. That is why legalized gambling probably isn't a good idea... unless you are the casino.

09:17 pm - I'm not dead. I only have dial-up though, and that is pretty close in internet terms. You have to connect to do stuff. It is positively barbaric.
