Evaluate Sources - A Self-Guided Tutorial: Practice: Choosing Relevant Sources

Self-Check: Choosing Relevant Sources

You’ve learned how to evaluate sources for credibility, accuracy, bias, and relevance. Now it’s time to put those skills to work.

In the following scenarios, you’ll be given a short research topic and a list of four credible sources. Your task is to choose the two sources you would use for that assignment.. Then, briefly explain your reasoning.

Keep these in mind:

  • How well each source aligns with the specific research focus?
  • What each source adds to your understanding or argument?
  • Which sources help you use information, not just collect it?

Each scenario includes enough context to guide your thinking, but keep your focus on how well each source fits, not just whether it’s “good.”
