For best results, please include your course and section number and background details, especially

  • details about your project topic, such as your personal or professional interest in the topic,

  • whether you want to focus your topic and explore possible research directions, or search for "big picture" overview sources or in-depth specialized sources, etc.,

  • search resources and strategies that you've already tried.

To request a RESERVATION to meet, please use the library's "Make an Appointment" page, selecting the  nane of the Interior Design resource/research specialist from the list of subject librarians. Appointments can be made up to 12 hours before a time option shown on the calendar. If the time options shown on the calendar don't work for you, you are welcome to send 2 or 3 days/times you could meet by email.

To search for e-content such as accessible ebooks from across the campus ebook platforms: after doing an search, select "Online Only" and at left, limit results to Campus = Indianapolis.

Start with simple "title keyword" or "subject", or "keyword anywhere" searches; e.g.: interior AND design model

Focus on materials resources

In Google Scholar, link to IU Indianapolis full-text

When you search Google Scholar on your personal computer, you can configure your settings so that IU Indianapolis Library resource links appear in your results. Then you can click the Find It @ IU Indianapolis Link to access a library item.

(TIP: If you're at a temporary computer and don't want to activate these settings, you can access Google Scholar via our Databases page (Library Home Page > Databases > Google Scholar (in the Search Box)). You'll be prompted to login with your IU Login, and then you'll see the Find It @ IU Indy links as well.)

How to Configure

To configure your Google Scholar Library Links, go to Google Scholar (scholar.google.com) and click on the three horizontal bars in the top-left corner, then click Settings, in the left-hand column.

Then select Library Links and search for "Indiana University Indianapolis." Check the box in the search select and click "Save."

Finding the Full-Text of an Article

Step 1

  1. From a library database (https://iu.libguides.com/az.php), search for your topic. 
  2. Click the access options, or PDF, or HTML.
  3. If there is no full-text option (PDF or HTML), click "Find It" or "Find it @ IU Indianapolis."

Step 2

  1. "Find it" will open a new page. If we have the full-text in another database, you should see a link to either the article itself or the journal under "Links to Content."
  2. If there is no link to the article or the journal, click on the IU Indianapolis University Library InterLibrary Services link (or the link to your home library, IU School of Dentistry Library, Ruth Lilly Medical Library, Ruth Lilly Law Library) and submit a request.
  3. In about 24 hours to 3 days, you'll receive an email with a link to the full-text of the article.
