Thank you so much! In the state the game is right now it would be pretty easy to add more enemies or weapons, but if I'm being honest I'd rather rebuild the entire thing from the ground up with less spaghetti code haha.
Thank you for playing!
Thank you for the detailed reply!
Firstly, I agree that the music is a bit much, I left sound design for the absolute last minute because I am definitely not good at it haha. There is a mute button at least, I hoped that would be appreciated in lieu of an actual sound options menu.
Regarding the tooltips, it's funny that you say that! The time it took for them to appear was originally shorter (around 1 second) but I grew annoyed at them for showing up too quickly, so I bumped the time up to 2 seconds. I agree they take a bit too much now, the answer is probably a happy medium. This was also a last minute decision, which I guess is becoming a pattern haha.
And I did want to make the weapons and enemies also show tooltips on hover, but I did not have time to figure that out in the end. Something about them being Sprite2Ds instead of Control nodes, but I'm not an expert. I'm still learning Godot and game dev in general!
Thank you so much for playing! Your feedback is appreciated.
I see! When developing the game, I was inspired by mosa lina which also doesn't give ability descriptions, as you are supposed to find out by experimentation / trial and error. I understand that may not fit every game, or even this one for that matter.
Your feedback means a lot! Thank you for playing!
Thank you so much!
I did actually want to add tooltips in that way, instead of just on the buttons. One of the reasons I didn't is because I saw no easy way to customize the appearance of the built-in tooltips (without some method like using some roundabout method like a plugin). Maybe I am missing something though? I know there is a mehtod called _make_custom_tooltip() but I was intimidated by the though of overriding it haha.
In any case, thank you for the feedback and thanks for playing!
Really cool idea!
I like that there is both the element of taking the money AND the element of travel, adds dimentionality to the gameplay. There's more choices to make, so the game feels more complete.
But man, am I bad at math haha I was never sure how much money to ask for and maybe I'm too much of a goody-two-shoes because I never asked for outrageous amounts. Maybe I should have tried being a little eviller, would be better for me evidently!
Really great job, congrats!
So cool!
I really love the idea of different items having different effects, and having to plan around that, well done.
The art style was cute, though the game would have been more appealing with more elements, mainly different rooms having different colors and layouts, and there being some sort of background instead of a gray void.
Of course, I know this is due to the time constraints of the jam. It's very good for what it is!
I am not sure if it is intended that I make less noise if I repeatedly spam the walking buttons, or if it's an intended feature. Still, very fun!
Good job!
Really cool!
I love the little generated characters, there's a lot of charm there. And the actual process of stealing stuff is done in a very interesting way, I love how "story-tell-y" it is, and the art is very charming.
Honestly the only suggestions I'd have are things that would make sense to omit during a game jam, but that would make the game feel more polished in a possible full release. I'd love there to be illustrations for the different jobs you can do, and for the little story parts in jobs to have phrases that are a bit more specific to the storyline, rather than generic as they are now.
Bu those are nitpicks really. Very well made game, and cool interpretation of the theme! Good job!
This might be my favorite game from the jam! Really Well done! Congratulations!
The art style and polish is incredible, the look and feel of the game is wonderful, the visuals are so stylish and the gameplay is very intuitive. Just, all around incredible.
The balance is entirely busted, don't get me wrong. I had so much energy by the end that I could play every card in my and every turn and the enemy was never able to steal anything from me. I was stacking up so many healing cards that any damage dealt to me was entirely negligible and I ignored rest spaces completely. The different enemy AIs were almost irrelevant since I could stack up a lot of damage and draw even more cards to deal even more damage, leaving enemies with -250 HP, and so on.

But oh man, I had so much fun the entire time. Really well made, great job!
Honestly I hope you win 1st place!
Very impressive amount of content for a jam game! Congrats!
Although, the game could do with a little more focus, perhaps? Things like the skill tree and save/load system are technically impressive, but don't seem to add a lot to the core of the gameplay. Once I settled on an arrangement of my available pieces there was no punishment for repeating it or incentive to explore anything else.
Other than that, the game had a good amount of polish, good art and music choice!
Good job!
Revising my review!
Very cool idea! The art is very good, as pointed out earlier. It compliments to the atmosphere of the game!
The gameplay is simple but very effective! I am not sure why holding down space is necessary to move when digging, so that was a bit awkward. Regardless, the game is well made!
Congrats!
So cool! Very interesting interpretation of the theme!
I really like the minimalist art style, it really suits the game. The controls are also simple enough to get it very quickly. Really satisfying to play around!
I did find you can sorta cheese it if you trace the layout of the house instead of making a path, but maybe that's just my style of play haha. Maybe it would be more challenging if you only had a certain amount of ink to use? Still, it's a minor observation.
Great writing also! Entertaining but not annoying.
Congrats! Really well executed!
Really cool!
I had no issues using controller on Firefox, but I was still bat at the game haha. Could not get past the eye that shoots a lot of projectiles. I tried killing it but it took a lot of hits and I kept dying. Eventually I gave up, but I still had a lot of fun! You can tell the project is very competently made.
Good job!
Absolutely adorable!
Great art style and very tight controls! Snappy and responsive, very fun do jump across many sequential gaps. Also, surprising amount of levels for a jam submission. This could have been a full game!
Maybe my only suggestions would be that you get different gifts each level? So instead of 10 purses, you grab maybe a purse, a hat, glasses, and so on. But I know that would have been a lot of extra art, so it's not a bad thing.
Great job! Congrats!
So fun! And surprisingly challenging!
The art style is absolutely perfect, very simple and stylized but very consistent even in the UI. Really good job, congrats! The waves felt very fair, not too hard and not too easy, even with the help of the other animals.

One very very minor point in the controls if that it didn't feel intuitive to have to press space to take the food from the cardinal. Everytime I'd try to get it with my tongue and then I'd go "oh yeah, it's space". But that's a very small thing and I still completed the game.
Very well made, good job!
Thank you!
Yeah I did not have much time to balance things, so getting into stalemates is unfortunately common. I tried to counteract it a bit by making it so the enemy cannot play the same weapon certain number of turns, and gets another weapon so there's a chance you can steal it from them. It's not perfect, and definitely something that should be tweaked. But I'm glad you had fun!
Thank you so much for playing!
Thank you so much!
Honestly I want back and forth during development if the swap move should cost a whole turn or not, and in the end I'm still not sure. Thank you for the feedback!
There is a way to see the weapon info if you hover over its name in the button, but I also originally wanted to make it so you could hover over the weapon itself to see its description. Ah well, so it goes I suppose haha.
Thanks for playing!
