For ISHS, Young Minds is a very special group including students and early-career professionals.
For students, it encompasses those at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels.
Early-career professionals are considered those professionals who have recently started their career and have less than 10 years of experience after receiving their final degree, and are 40 years of age or below.

The objectives of the Young Minds program are to:
- Promote engagement of Young Minds within ISHS
- Prepare a new generation for the future of ISHS
- Promote education in Horticulture across the globe
- Promote the interface between Young Minds, industry and universities/research institutes
- Promote/encourage ISHS membership among peers
The main goals of the Young Minds program are to:
- Establish a hub of opportunities for training, mentorship, internship, exchange, and connections to develop the next generation of horticulturists.
- Develop year-round activities such as webinars, deep-dive meetings, networking and mentorship events to connect the industry and Young Minds to discuss possible career opportunities.
- Organize social events around ISHS symposia and congresses.
- To promote Young Minds in Horticulture by awarding and recognizing best papers and presentations at symposia and congresses and the publication of articles within Chronica Horticulturae.
