I seem to have started porting the characters from A:TLA into The Avengers movie. It's... surprising how easily it's falling together, considering that they aren't direct ports, but my new subtitle for the series may become "Loki's Cautionary Tale."

When I was seven or eight, I was mildly afraid of the word "wicked," which in Massachusetts was moderately inescapable.

I just read an elaborate theory in which all of Neon Genesis Evangelion (and connected canon materials) was brought about and also led by the interaction of 4chan, Scientology, and Anonymous. I am both profoundly baffled and impressed.

I had forgotten how very, very terrible the X movie dub was.

I mean.

WOW.

This is DELICIOUS.

I keep forgetting this, but I swear, every time my feet get cold, I am sleepy within MINUTES. Am I the only one with this problem? And why do I never recall this connection and use my significant collection of socks to rectify it?

Also- YOU GUYS., YOU GUYS YOU GUYS YOU GUYS. THEY ANIMATED FINN FAMILY MOOMINTROLL. MOOMINS. ANIMATED MOOMINS. HOLY SQUEEFUCK I EXIST IN A WORLD OF DELIGHTED AMAZE. I am so buying this thing. I don't care if it's crap, MOOOOOOOMIIIINS.

Now I must bake apple cider doughnuts- long story- and decide upon a Halloween/LBCC costume. And start making it. Like, today. What the hell am I going to beeeeeeee augh (suggestions that are budgetable and quick are being accepted, if anyone has any ideas).

All right, I admit it. Star Trek Reboot fandom has just EATEN ME. You guys, I'm making SONGCALLS. Most of my internet time is at work right now, which means I can't do anything social network-y that isn't from my phone (and sometimes not even that), but ff.net? COME TO ME, MY PRETTY.

I'm trying to figure out a way to get my phone to work with LJ. Because moomph.

In my life? I'm still working at my crappity job, but I've been moved to a different department (not officially, and CERTAINLY not in terms of paycheck because HA HA HA you're so cute) for six hours of the day, and I have actual WORK to do there, which is fantastic. I'm also babysitting as much as is humanly possible, because I can and because I always desperately need money - and there were two giant expenses this past six months, like a 92 year old man ripping the front off of my car when he ran a red light and then not having the insurance to cover it. And stuff. Yeah, we all know this is how my life runs on a regular basis. Anyone remember 2008, when I had to buy a car and a computer the same year I lost my job? GOOD TIMES.

Last year I also worked at a haunted house, but this year I decided not to audition because a) babysitting pays more, and b) babysitting still involves getting punched in the kidneys, but not with nearly as much force, scads fewer drunken idiots, and no uncomfortable rubber masks. So this year just babysitting, which is good with me.

I did SDCC this year, as always with my beloved purpletophat, dressed as a totally obscure teenage version of Sif from Thor that nobody recognized, but that was okay because of three things: first, I LOVE the wig I got for it. (Yes. I dressed up as a Norse goddess and chose the only brunette in all of Valhalla, because I'm a brilliant human being.) Second, I had a cape, which meant that I could regulate my temperature more easily, walk around all swooshity, and best of all, not have to worry about how my back looked, because MAN did I rip up a lot of pair of nylons. Another perk of the cape was that whenever one of the Slave Leias- yeah, I sort of became the Slave Leia den mother at this booth, dunno quite how that happened, but cookies were involved- was cold or sugarcrashing or just needed a break from people constantly trying to touch them, I could swoop in and declare "Hug times for ASGARD!" and enwrap them. Helping people, thwarting jerks, AND cuddling cute girls? Yeah, it was terrible, I don't know how I bore it either. Third, and my favorite part: I was a war goddess. I got to be cranky and threatening to people for THE ENTIRE CON oh you guys it was the best thing ever. I have to start only being villanesses or really really angry people from now on. It's fantastic. I also got found by a whole passel of vikings on the third or fourth day and hoisted up onto their shoulders while yelling "BOW BEFORE YOUR GODDESS" to the Dealer's room. I love cons. I also got a fantastic photo of myself in the Emperor's chair from Star Wars, which I'll post if I can figure out where I put it. Oh, and Adrienne Curry is delightful, and also thinks I'm a "spitfire." Hee!

I'm ALSO also still going to school, despite my program head being a giant, giant bag of dicks. Seriously, imagine the biggest bag you can, and then FILL IT WITH DICKS. She's that bad. I got stuck in Denver on my way back from a huge important family event and couldn't attend the first day of class, emailing her my progress every pertinent step of the way, and she dropped me. BAG OF DIIIIIICKS. Did I mention that I went back to school? Because I did. It's eating me too.

I got to go to an Assemblage 23 show recently! It was awesome, and also the first non-wedding, non-birthday-y social thing bar one instance that I've had to go out and do stuff in seriously like six months. I needed that dancing, I really did. If you don't know who Assemblage are, go check them out. Surprisingly positive lyrics for a Industronicgothy band, and some really lovely moments.

I'm seriously, SERIOUSLY considering making a costume of Juliet from Lollipop Chainsaw. The complete absurdity of both the design and the game itself really appeal to me, and I wouldn't have to wear a wig! Also, fairly cheap costume to make if I don't do the chainsaw. Other ones I want to make- Lady Deadpool, because there is nothing but love in my heart for Deadpool in all his spazzy, fourth-wall-destroying, completely insane incarnations, a nd the new Thundercats Cheetara. (I blame executivegoth for this. I don't know why you want me to be a furry, man, but for you I might just do it. SHUT UP YOU WILL TAKE YOUR GIANT CRANKY CATGIRL AND YOU WILL LIKE IT.)

I'm also still taking karate. I'm such crap at it. I love it so good.

More to come if I think of it. I'm kind of wonked right now, honestly- my brain is so lame that lately I've been finding myself giggling over product codes. Not kidding. Tiny granulated pirates were involved in this particular instance. Stop judging meeeeee.

There's something so satisfying about ironing silk. Not only is it instant gratification on the right heat setting- the wrinkles just disappear!- but the sensuality of the fabric is magnified by the sense that you're turning something that's beautifully rumpled and shoddy into something that just looks perfect. Not an easy thing to do in most cases, that. Mmmmm.

Now back to my Intense Sewing Action! If I don't have a complete dress by the time I go to bed, someone will be honor-bound to maim me.

(At work, so I can't do the nice useful embedding thing. It's really lovely, though.)

Yeah, I'm still kind of hermitting. There's stuff. But finals are almost over, right?

Am I the only person who is now actively avoiding any coverage of the upcoming Royal Wedding (TM)? It's not just boring, it feels invasive and tacky to have all of this stuff scrutinized in such minute, constant detail. I understand that being part of the British Royal Family means you have to get used to constant media attention, but this is just... distasteful. It feels like these people are constantly being put under magnifying glasses and being judged pore by pore. Do we really not have anything else that the news outlets feel would interest the public? Ugh.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

(Okay, I might have more of an actual opinion about it later, but for now, I am full of slightly-dirty everything, direwolf puppies, costume porn, Theon being a prick, White Walkers doing things, architecture, holy shit Khal Drogo I heart you SO MUCH (but disembowelings at a wedding are a bit beyond my sensibilities too), promising performances, oh Peter Dinklage you are making me SO GIDDY SQUEE. So good to see this on the screen.)

Perhaps it's just me, but mending socks with little panda bears on them and sewing buttons onto shirts while watching a Vin Diesel movie fills me with the same quietly smirking kind of happiness that I got when I realized I was reading a book about the Monster of Florence on Valentine's Day.

(Yes, I am in fact distracting myself with EPIC DETERMINATION from larger, less easily summarized issues, why do you ask?)

Dear Universe,

I admit that I'm not good with subtle hints, but I get it. I will never again wear this sweatshirt. Now will you please stop smearing things on me?

~~~~~
Dear NPR "Talk of the Nation" Caller,
So.... you don't consider the film "Waiting for Superman" to be a valid documentary because you think it is too heavily skewed due to points of view, footage, or information being left out. But you haven't seen the film. Ah, but you DID see the Oprah episode about the film, in which they showed excerpts, and that is the basis of your strongly worded opinion. Tell me, do you actually listen to the words that are coming out of your mouth?
~~~~~

Dear Hawaii, and particularly Governor Abercrombie,

HELL yes. That's what we've been taking about, CALIFORNIA everyone else. That is how you start going in the right direction. Now I want to visit you more, just in support.

~~~~~
Dear Egypt,
HELL YES. I know I'm late on this, but seriously, every time I think about you guys, I've smiled. That was inspiring and amazing and wonderful.
~~~~~

Dear Deer,

I'm cool with you, actually. I just wanted to make the dumb homophone joke. Go on 'bout your business.

~~~~~
Dear Strawberries,
WHY DID YOU EXPLODE
SERIOUSLY
THAT'S JUST BIZARRE
No matter where on the continent I'm living or where in the city I'm sleeping, every time I look up Orion seems to be pointing me home.
In other news, finals are eating my head. Stupid backloaded class is stupid, but I knew that. Also, I have a shinsa coming up, for which I'm not even sure I'm eligible. FLAIL. Did I mention I broke my toe? Yes, only I can break my own bone while doing a self-defense move.
Transfinite: deviantART, binarism, and transphobia
I'd been hearing rumblings for a while now about dA and their new apparent policy of running towards failure gleefully, arms outstretched, but this isn't even trying to hide the blatant bigotry. And as someone who's been in customer service for pretty much my whole working life- extra fail with failsauce and a sugary failaschino cherry on top. Even if the company's policy is stated in those terms and you can't contradict them in written communication for legal liability reasons, there are ways around with phrasing and genuine attempts to make the situation better.
