Screws

How many types of screws does IPD offer?

IPD offers four types of screws designed to meet the diverse needs of our customers. Each screw features unique properties to ensure optimal performance and fully satisfy the specific functional requirements of your restorations.

Titanium Screw

This screw is made from high-quality Titanium Grade V Ti6Al4V ELI

To be used with same screwdriver as OEM parts.

Excellent biocompatibility and corrosion resistance.

Provides strong mechanical stability and long-term durability.

Ideal for standard and straights prosthetic restorations

BLC Coating Screw

Made of: Titanium Grade V Ti6Al4V ELI & DLC coating doped with tungsten

Improved screw retention thanks to low friction and excellent sliding properties. Enhanced stability, with minimal variation in compressive forces across repeated uses.

To be used with the same screwdriver as OEM parts.

Reduced friction, potentially allowing for an exceptionally low coefficient of friction.

Consistent performance across multiple tightening cycles, contributing to reliable prosthetic connections.

For straight prosthetic restorations.

TIN Coating Screw

This screw is made of Titanium grade V Ti6Al4V ELI & Titanium Nitride (TiN) coated

Enhanced surface hardness and wear resistance.

Improves screw resistance.

Suitable for cases requiring higher mechanical performance.

To be used with same screwdriver as OEM parts.

For straights prosthetic restorations

TiN Coating Benefits:

  • Surface hardness
  • Slightly reduced friction coefficient

TPA Screw

TPA screw is mandatory for those Angulated Screw Channel (ASC) restorations.

It is made of Titanium Grade V Ti6Al4V & TiN coated

  • Suitable for torque from up to 28° degrees.
  • Penta lobular screw head.
  • Specific ASC libraries for it.
  • Need a specific TPA screwdriver. Available in 3 lengths: 18/25/32 mm
  • Same seating design as OEM screw

Designed for specific prosthetic applications (please specify exact use if available).

Ensures compatibility and optimal mechanical performance in ASC options.

**Be sure to select the correct screw type when placing the order, depending on whether the design will be with a Custom Ti-base, ASC Custom Ti-base, or direct-to-implant approach.

Scanbody

How could I design a restoration using a non IPD scan body?

Our new IPD Lite libraries for Exocad and 3Shape allow you to automatically switch from OEM or third-party scan bodies to IPD components during the design process. This seamless integration ensures full compatibility with IPD’s restorative solutions.

Enjoy a faster, more flexible workflow while maintaining precision and reliability in your final design and restoration. IPD Lite libraries simplifies the path to using IPD products, saving time and improving results.

Is it possible to design on Multi-unit If I used a direct connection scan body (non-MUA scan body)?

No, To design restorations on multi-unit abutments, it is essential to scan using either MUA scan bodies or our Scan Transfer system. Once the scan is complete, the corresponding MUA library must be used in your CAD software to ensure accurate alignment and optimal design.

This process guarantees that your restoration is precisely adapted to MUA abutments, enabling a perfect fit, proper emergence profile, and long-term clinical success.

Ti-base

How can I angulate the screw channel if I design on Ti-Base?

There are two ways to angulate screw channels when using IPD libraries in your CAD software:

Using the IPD TECH Library

For users working with older versions of Exocad (prior to Elefsina 3.2), the IPD TECH library allows you to manually select the desired angle of the screw channel during the design process.

Using the IPD Lite Library

For users of Exocad (Elefsina 3.2 and later) or 3Shape, the IPD Lite library includes support for angulated screw channels (ASC). Simply select the ASC option within the library.

**For Exocad users, this functionality is available under "Abutment Bottoms – Advanced" in the parameter’s menu.

These options give you the flexibility to customize your screw channel angulation while ensuring compatibility with IPD components and maintaining optimal prosthetic outcomes.

IPDMilled

What do I need to design and mill using IPDMilled?

To design and mill a custom titanium abutment with IPDMilled, you’ll need the following:

IPDMilled CAD Libraries

Use our dedicated libraries to design your abutment with the exact dimensions required for IPDMilled milling. These libraries ensure a precise fit and optimal milling results.

Compatible CAM Libraries

Depending on the CAM software you use, you'll need to integrate or select the appropriate CAM libraries for IPDMilled. These allow the correct tool paths for precise milling.

NT-Trading Milling Holder for IPDMilled

To secure IPDMilled in your milling machine, you must use the official IPD/NT-Trading holder. This holder is specifically designed to ensure stability and accuracy during the milling process.

You can purchase the holder directly from IPD or your milling machine provider.

It’s essential to calibrate the holder inside your machine to guarantee maximum precision during milling.

The calibration of the holder is a specialized process that varies depending on the specific CAM software and milling machine you are using. For this reason, we recommend contacting your CAM provider and milling machine manufacturer directly, as they are best equipped to guide you through the precise calibration procedures. Please note that IPD does not perform calibration services for IPDMilled holders, but we remain available to support you with any product-related inquiries.

If you have any questions about compatibility or setup, your milling machine support team or our distributors can help you.

Which characteristics have IPDMilled products?

Our IPD Milled abutments are manufactured from high-quality Titanium Grade V ELI and are available in 12 mm diameters, depending on the IPD Milled type. Each abutment comes with two screws included in the package.

We also offer IPD Milled abutments with NT-Trading connection, which are fully compatible with milling machines that use the NT-Trading holder, allowing for easy and precise in-house milling.
