From an idea in the back of a cab in the Hollywood Hills, to a business in an old handbag factory in London’s Vauxhall, for the last two years we’ve been on a mission to make people’s homes extraordinary with original art.
With Stephanie’s experience building the Tate collection, leading the development of the globally renowned Ithra Galleries in Saudia, and consulting on acquisitions for major collectors around the world (and Ben’s complete lack of discernible art experience) we set out fixing an outdated and unappealing art market for most potential buyers.
While art’s power to transform a space is widely acknowledged and celebrated – we felt nobody had considered the buying dilemmas facing the novice collector; whether it would ‘fit’ in their home, whether they would still love it after the novelty had worn off and whether they felt they had the time and freedom to consider several styles. We understood that buying unique and high value items should be a joyful process, not a stressful transaction.
Across our network many talented early- and mid-career artists longed for more connection with collectors and consistent, fair representation. There was a huge opportunity to make things better by starting a new model from scratch. And so, after months of meetings with artists and mentors, we launched Interrupted Art. A purposefully different platform to discover, explore and experiment with curated original art.
We have huge plans for the future and we’d love you to follow our journey…

Deliberately different: finding joy in the process
The mistake many people make when looking for quality art is setting unrealistic expectations about the process. The truth is, it’s not like buying any other item for the home. Art can be deeply personal. It can swing from being unapologetically about its beauty, all the way to being challenging and meaningful. There is no correct place to be on that scale.
Setting out to find art can be an unfortunate chore. There are endless online stores, high street galleries and art fairs. As with anything, quality can be patchy and forced decision-making is overwhelming. The philosophy of our approach is about removing stress and urgency, allowing room for experimentation and curation. Some people love the freedom to choose and explore themselves, others enjoy a level of support and companionship in the process; we look to cater for both approaches ensuring we preserve the joy in the experience.

How we curate world class art
We are highly selective about the artists we work with, and are lucky enough to have a growing pool of over 250 artists from around the world who have applied to be a part of Interrupted Art. As we grow, we make very considered additions to our artist community. We value a long-term approach to our relationships with artists, looking to support their careers with regular feedback on the market and opportunities outside the immediate Interrupted Art model.
While quality of the works we represent is non-negotiable, we also work hard to create a collection which varies in style, medium, size and tone. Each piece is handpicked by a team led by our founder Stephanie, who personally directs our curatorial approach. We only offer original works, with the slightest exception for photography where we will work with extremely limited editions (mostly under 10).
Our collection is constantly evolving, as our clients come to us for peace of mind they are exploring the best talent on the market but also that we are bringing them options they haven’t – or cannot – see elsewhere.
