Intel® Security Assist 1.0

Intel Security Assist is a small Windows background component commonly installed alongside Intel Management Engine/Management and Security packages on PCs with Intel chipsets. Its role is to enable certain hardware‑assisted security features—such as Intel Identity Protection Technology (IPT) and, on business systems, Intel Active Management Technology (AMT)—by brokering secure communication between system firmware and software that relies on these capabilities. It is not an antivirus and does not provide stand‑alone protection for everyday use.

Key points:

• Purpose: Facilitates secure handshakes and credential/token operations for applications that use Intel’s hardware‑based security features.
• When you need it: Required only if you use services or corporate tools that depend on Intel IPT/AMT or OEM utilities built on those technologies.
• Impact: Very low resource usage; runs quietly in the background.
• Safe to remove?: Disabling or uninstalling typically doesn’t affect core Windows functions, but dependent features will stop working. If needed, it can be disabled via Services or removed by uninstalling the Intel Management Engine/Management and Security components provided by your PC manufacturer.
• Process name and location: isa.exe, typically under Program Files\Intel\Intel(R) Security Assist.
• Platform: Windows PCs with compatible Intel chipsets.
• Troubleshooting: If you encounter errors, update or reinstall the Intel Management Engine/Management and Security package from your system or motherboard vendor.
