We have had the oddest Holy week! (I’m reluctant to even say that because sometimes it seems as if the universe takes it as a challenge.) By “odd” I don’t mean bad, just different. I guess the kids and grand kids are all grown now, so it’s just a new season of life.
Anyway, hubby and I took the most beautiful bike ride on the first day of Spring and we came upon this amazing cross. I can’t even do it justice with a photo, but it was really huge and the snow capped mountains in the background were just stunning.
We rode through miles and miles of beautiful farmland and got to see some fun folk art along the way. I had on about 3 extra layers and it was still absolutely freezing. Eventually we decided to turn back on account of having ridden much farther than usual and needing to save some energy to make it back to the car.
I’m still painting rocks and this year I’ve managed to put out a few dozen “He is risen” and “Jesus loves you” rocks. I’m not an artist, so I just call it evandalism. I’m busy making the stones cry out, hoping someone will find one at just the right time and it will make them smile.
A bit amusing, things are beginning to pop up and grow but for the life of me, I cannot seem to grow any daffodils. They grow practically wild just about anywhere but in my yard. The other day I watched a pair of squirrels actually dig up one of my bulbs and run off with it, so I think I may have solved the mystery.
What’s kind of funny is that nothing ever eats daffodils. I’m pretty sure they are poisonous. Deer certainly won’t touch them. That leads me to conclude the squirrels are just being spiteful and stealing my bulbs for good measure.
Anyway, I generally lament and complain on my blog or else address some dark thing in the world that just happened, so just to provide some healthy perspective, life is actually quite good. I’m really blessed, I’m able to get outside and get some sunshine and exercise, and we’ve got to have some lovely meals with various people who are near and dear to us. We have a sweet friend in his 90’s who dropped by for a visit and that was such a sweet blessing.
Something I really appreciate about Holy week is that, He is risen indeed, all year round. We serve a risen Lord, every single day of the year now. You don’t have to wait until Easter Sunday or Resurrection Day to celebrate and you don’t have to stop the day after.

Nothing more beautiful than an empty cross. Jesus died for us and He lives for us. How can things be better?

Amen! You are quite right, there is nothing more beautiful than an empty cross. Now I understand why they always catch my eye. 🙂

yes, in a world of constant change for bad reasons, some things are constantly good.
the language of ‘away with him…’ may be considered fashionable by polite society, while the ones with no reputation see otherwise- the Wall Street crowd in their ‘look at me suits,’ as they trade for more status- against the poor in spirit- the contrast cannot be greater/
the year is 2024 AD- but most people neither notice nor care, but ‘that holy thing’ born of a woman, has lost no luster to they with keen eyesight- who abides outside of time.
While Pilate may have washed his hands as if to say ‘it’s not my business,’ consider the angels watching to see who would agree holy holy holy, while things appeared dim.
( btw, there just very well may have been an eclipse that day on that central tree.)

According to the Bible, it was an eclipse like no other, darkness covered the earth on the day the Son of God died…

Makes sense right? The Light of the world going dim, snuffed out even.

Yes. And I’ve read that other cultures around the globe recorded the same phenomena. Years and years ago I sat in a Bible study where this was presented. Wish I had a better memory for the details.

As I read this, I’m wearing a T-shirt that says:
HE IS RISEN
TRUE STORY
I really shouldn’t limit it to Easter time, should I?
Have a wonderful Resurrection Day, Gabrielle.

My wife made a loaf of bread today. Like Jesus it has risen!

Our neighborhood squirrel steals the bird seed from their feeders. For some reason, we are supposed to be avove that sort of thing, but of course few of us truly are. Rather, we are just hypocrits. Maybe that’s needed for us to live in societies?

Sounds like a wonderful bike ride. The cross in your pic looks very big. And yes, He is risen… back then, right now, and forevermore! Amen!

Amen to this: “You don’t have to wait until Easter Sunday or Resurrection Day to celebrate and you don’t have to stop the day after.”
I try to have that mindset every Sunday
