SECTIONS

Opening and Closing

International Competition

Competition that highlights new voices and looks into the future. Features and shorts that cross the boundaries of genre, form, geography, and also the human body and gaze, in a search of a dialogue – about the world and with the world.

National Competition

It brings together Portuguese feature and short films, most of which have their first world or national presentation at IndieLisboa.

Brand New

Competitive section for young filmmakers in age and willingness to experiment with cinema – it is the space par excellence for new voices in portuguese cinema.

Silvestre

With works by young filmmakers and established authors, this competitive section finds in singularity its norm. Films that reject established formulas, that awaken new languages and whose rebelliousness mirrors the spirit of the festival.

IndieMusic

The link between cinema and music is at the epicentre of this competitive section. It delves not infrequently into the historical, political and social contexts that accompany the musical movements of the selected films.

Smart7

A new cooperation network has emerged that brings together 7 festivals from 7 different countries, with the intention of encouraging the circulation of European titles. The section is competitive, itinerant and collaborative, with a selection of 7 chosen films representing all member countries.

Mockumentary Retrospective

This is not a documentary.

IndieJúnior

IndieJúnior is the IndieLisboa section for children, schools, and families, where cinema is discovered as a space for sharing, leisure, and connection, nurturing audiences from 6 months to 15 years old. The program, organized by age groups, combines films and themes that stimulate imagination, empathy, and critical thinking, offering shared experiences with adults, and activities that enhance participation and support the development of our audience.

Director’s Cut

Director’s Cut, the section for the most curious film lovers, is now dedicated exclusively to heritage cinema, presenting a selection of films in newly restored digital prints. The aim is to revisit the history of cinema, recovering forgotten films, highlighting obscure gems and proposing new titles for the canon of ‘great cinema’. This year, the five films offer a highly eclectic selection: ranging from curiosities to masterpieces, from political satire to erotic horror, from militant documentaries to feminist biopics, and including Japanese film noir.

Rhizome

Films highlighting relevant current issues, renowned filmmakers, and premieres.

Mouth of Madness

If you feel a shiver down your spine, a pulsing anxiety that explodes into catharsis, an adrenaline rush or even a wicked laugh on the way, you’re in the Mouth of Madness.

Cinema at the Pool

“Aquatic cinema” aka “watching flms foating in a pool”

European Short Film Network

IndieLisboa presents an expanded cinema installation, in collaboration with Trienal de
Arquitectura de Lisboa. It is a project by the European Short Film Network, organised in cooperation with THIS IS SHORT and curated by the 25 FPS Festival.
