Independence Alliance empowers people with disabilities to lead independent and inclusive lives in the community.
Disability Rights and Advocacy
We empower individuals to speak for themselves (self-advocacy), and we work toward broader policy shifts (systemic advocacy) to create a barrier-free and accessible society. We advocate for the protection of human rights, inclusion, and equal opportunities for people with disabilities. We provide training and resources for effective self-advocacy, either one-on-one or in a group.

Independent Living Skills
We empower individuals by teaching essential life skills for self-reliance, covering areas like budgeting, cooking, personal care, transportation, communication, and job readiness. We assist consumers to build confidence and independence with daily living through personalized one-on-one or group sessions.
Peer Support
Peer support is the cornerstone of the independent living movement. We provide the opportunity for people with disabilities to share knowledge, experience, and practical help to each other. Peer support can guide people with disabilities toward their independent living goals. Peer support can be one-on-one or in a group.
Information and Referral
Our team responds daily to inquiries through phone calls, emails, and our website. In response to these inquiries, we connect people to the appropriate member of our team whenever our services can address the needs of the consumer. We often connect people with specific resources, services, and support they need, acting as a bridge between individuals facing challenges and community program and services that can help.

Youth Transition Services
We support youth with disabilities, ages 14 to 24 years, in preparing for a meaningful and successful transition to adulthood. Services include individualized skills training in areas such as self-advocacy, education, employment, and independent living. We join with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) to provide Pre-Employment Transition Services are offered in school or community settings and may be provided one-on-one or in group sessions, depending on the individual needs of each student.
Housing Programs
Our housing programs in Ohio and Northern Kentucky prioritize independent living for people with disabilities through lease-based, affordable rental options, and integrated support services. Consumers must be referred via a Coordinated Entry System (CES), a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) mandated process standardizing access to housing assistance for the most vulnerable. Housing programs include support services to assist consumers with disability benefits, employment, public access, and more.

Arts Programming
We support aspiring artists with disabilities to develop their artistic skills and market their art in our exhibition gallery, Art Beyond Boundaries. Our gallery focuses on promoting creative expression and raising awareness of the talents of artists with disabilities. Through art programming, we advocate for artists with disabilities, engage diverse audiences, and develop relationships with community partners.
