Think about it: Razorpay, Meesho, Zepto. These Indian powerhouses all broke into YC by focusing on something far more fundamental: clarity of thought, lightning-fast execution, and an undeniable founder-market fit. They didn't just talk about their vision; they showed it. Harshil Mathur and Shashank Kumar of Razorpay didn't walk into their YC interview with a deck full of market size slides. Instead, they had a live demo ready. Imagine a YC partner making a one-rupee payment in seconds, right there in the room, with a solution that blew everything else in India out of the water. That was their pitch. Similarly, Meesho founders Vidit Aatrey and Sanjeev Barnwal weren't accepted because of soaring GMV. They got in because they'd already done the gritty work, validating social commerce by running pilots in WhatsApp groups and talking to hundreds of Indian women entrepreneurs. They showed understanding, not just ambition. The lesson for us early-stage founders is clear: YC isn't looking for vanity metrics. They're looking for founders who can articulate a massive problem, demonstrate a compelling, working solution, and prove they understand their users inside out. Ignosis IGNOSIS, an enterprise first Account Aggregator infrastructure and financial data intelligence platform, has raised USD 4 million in pre Series A funding led by Peak XV's Surge. The round saw participation from Force Ventures, Razorpay Ventures, Cred founder Kunal Shah, and existing investors. The Ahmedabad based startup, founded in 2022 by Nirav Prajapati and Chintan Sheth, aims to address systemic credit access challenges faced by over 160 million underserved Indians and 80 percent of MSMEs. The fresh capital will be deployed to expand engineering, business, and compliance teams while developing financial services specific large language models and agentic AI solutions for banking and insurance sectors. Months after Inc42 reported about SpeakX.ai’s funding, the edtech startup has secured $16 Mn (around INR 142 Cr) in its pre-Series B funding round led by WestBridge Capital.👇 The round also saw participation from Goodwater Capital and existing investor Elevation Capital, alongside angels including OpenAI executive Shyamal Anadkat and upGrad cofounder Ronnie Screwvala. In a statement, the startup said that the capital will be used for enhancing SpeakX’s AI technology, expanding team, and offering English learning courses in new regional languages. Currently, speakX claims that 70% of the learners on the platform are Hindi speakers. Over the next year, the platform plans to launch in Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, and other regional belts where demand is rising. Codeyoung, an edtech startup has raised $5 million (Rs 44.4 Cr) in its Series A funding round, led by Blue Tokai-backer 12 Flags Group and Enzia Ventures. The round was an equal mix of primary and secondary funding, with the secondary portion allowing early investor Guild Capital to exit. The startup will use the new funds to grow in its current international markets, especially in the US and Canada.
