After a few weeks of tooling around the universe with Harry, because let's face it, weeks were like seconds to a Time Lord, the Doctor set about finding Jack Harkness for babysitting duty. Finding the right one could sometimes be difficult, but the last time that they'd met, he'd scanned his unique wrongness. That TARDIS zeroed in easily enough. The encounter was meant to be 'random' as Harry was not to know that he was suppose to spent a few days with Jack quite yet.
Getting Jack to agree to lead a trip to Fun And Safety World, where everything was both fun and safe by design and happenstance, was easy. He'd by now picked up some other Ianto -- and though the Doctor didn't approve of this obsession with multiples of the same lover, it was Jack's life. Getting Harry to want to go was easy too. Jack could convince anyone to do anything.
So, after that was settled, the Doctor slipped out of the trip with a clause about there being no Time Lords allowed on the planet, he headed to New New York, dating the time back a few weeks.

"Where's the Doctor?" It only occurred to David to ask this seemingly important question roughly and hour after being in contact with the man that gave them shelter and shuttled them from world to world. He and Harry had just been booted out of one gift shop on the aptly named Gift Shop World when their hour allotted time had ran over and the Doctor was not with them.
In fact, David didn't remember the Doctor actually following them into that particular store.
David checked his purchases and frowned at the hatted Harry. "Maybe we should wait out here."

"Day of the Dead"

When: Jack's not happy about the new additions to this world.
"We've been holed up here for three days. It's getting a bit smelly, really, but I think that's because the big fellow down the end doesn't know how to keep his shoes on. I suppose it's better that he doesn't in the end because hoo-boy, if that stench built up--" David grinned into the camera and then at Harry's tail twitching lightly beside him. The man it belonged to was asleep, and David could tell because it always made that three point wave when he was. David blinked and looked back at the video he was taking. "Right, so Jack brought us here to be sure we don't get infected. Except the Doctor's infected all ready, infected but not getting sick. They took him yesterday and now it's just me and Harry--"
David reached out to lightly stroke that tail until it quieted down, silly thing.
"--and the sheep. Which I wouldn't have minded except... Well.." He pans the camera to a group of people nearby. Sheep people. And David was literally terrified of them. "I think they're making plans to eat me. Oh, Doctor-- Doctor, if you hear this...save us!"

David put on his 'I love New x14 York' t-shirt and a pair of faded jeans. His trainers were as bright as his smile and he hopped up and down like a lunatic until Harry and the Doctor joined him. "Hi! Are we ready? I made a picnic lunch!"
David's face was still puffy and his nose and the corners of both eyes were swollen. He looked like he'd been in a bar fight. But that didn't seem to put a damper on his mood at all. He was poised for the go-ahead to open the door and once he did, he shot out of the TARDIS so fast it was rather impossible to keep up.
He needed the best sight for a picnic, one where you could see the whole city!

When: The trip to see Galileo took some pretty awkward turns for the worst. The Valiant is in the 16th century now and the Master is raining terror upon the humans!
David didn't pout, but he was being a bit more quiet than usual, hands folded in his lap as he watched the Master sing and dance. The moment he was done, he clapped rather happily, jumping to his feet. "Ooh, well done!" he half purred. It had been two days since he had seen the Doctor or Harry, but he didn't give up hope. So long as he was nice to the Master, he only ever threatened him a little bit!
He could totally live with that!
David twisted around a bit, hands behind his back. "Could you teach me?"

"I don't mean to alarm you," David said, pushing up his glasses as he followed the Doctor down yet another lonely and desolate corridor, "but I've just ran out of jammie dodgers. Including the last one I was saving for you in my pocket that you said you'd eat ten minutes ago and evidently forgot about...?"
David had taken to carrying around snacks with him when he left the TARDIS these days because the Doctor kept taking him to places devoid of human -- or alien -- life. He understood why. Harry-shaped objects followed them. But the last one he met was rather nice, kind to him, and obviously a better fobwateched Master in this crazy broken universe than morst of them. Therefore, he needed something to occupy him.
Thus. Snacks.
"Ooh! Lied! There's a bit of one here...do you mind lint?"

They always ended up landing in a back room somewhere and this time was no different. A storage shed, for lack of better terms, for very long, snake-like tubes happened to cushion their arrival this time and the Doctor, after checking to be sure David would not be waking up any time soon, burst out of the door and right over the hoses.
It was not his most grand of entrances. Arse in the air and arms flailing, he glanced up as Harry as the other man slipped passed him.
"Last time I was here," the Doctor said, righting himself, "the fashion was blue and gold jumpsuits. Lucky you, it's more beachwear this time!"
