This is the Popocatepetl,(from Nahuatl: Smoking Mountain) has alway been an active volcano. It has been during this week that it has shown activity with fumes and explosions. This is happening at the time as being posted.

The volcanic alert has been set at Yellow Phase 3 this implies the possibility of the following scenarios:

Explosive activity from an intermediate to high scale.  Growth of domes and the increasing possibility  of lava explosions and  an ash rain over near towns.

Emphasis on the following recommendations:

1. Continue with security radius of 12 KM. No one is allowed within this distance.
2. Maintain controlled traffic between Xalitzintla and Nexapa.

3. Civil protection needs to maintain its preventing evacuation procedures.

4.To the population: stay alert to oficial information being broadcasted.
