A day at the Beach

Praia do Vidigal or Vidigal Beach a very nice one, not crowed at all, just some steps from the Grand Sheraton Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.

This are last year photos since I have not been able to take many this year with the exception of some that I took in Santiago de Chile, where I spent some time for my birthday at the beginning of the year, on February. (I owe so many photographs for so many places still!)

These turned out to be random photos and I just realized they had certain sequence even though they were not taken with that intention.

Last night I had so many ideas for new posts but I don’t have the right pictures for that purpose… I will have to wait. The good thing is that I have written down those ideas so I won’t forget as always.

We all will be okay, the same way we have been for the last thousands of years.

There will be some casualties, but we will survive. Hang on there! and enjoy your day at the beach!

Posts have their right time.

Posts have their right time.

As a result of what I have seen lately (biological floating germs (I don’t want to name it, but you know what it is)) A week ago I chose to post this photo below.

Why I didn’t post it then? Because I misplaced my photographs and thought I had lost them. I couldn’t find my photos on any of the backups I  had. Finally I found them in the memory card which is strange since I always wipe them off. Fortunately I missed it this time.

I have seen people complaining about the current situation, they think they are stuck at their places, with people they say they know too little (basically, their family) and how unfortunate they are. This shocked me deeply.

On difficult times we rely on relationships, we are never completely by ourselves. This is a long ride and some friends will ride along with us. We are blessed with the memories until our final destination.

I have seen so little faith, and hopelessness that I wanted to show that there is another path. A path of faith above reason, the kind you rely on that goes far beyond any thinking. We can’t go on complaining, we have to accept with confidence the situations we face, knowing that we are going to make it through. We are not victims, and if we have that feeling then we have to fight it back to take control of what we can do, and that is taking care of ourselves. Bad situations can bring the worst on us, but also the best, we only have to choose if we want to be brave or if we want to be at the mercy of the elements.

This is the Cristo de Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I took this photo on a very cloudy day, a very bad day for taking pictures.  I was across the other mountain at the Sugar-loaf, a 5.72 km, (3.55 mi) distance. This picture couldn’t have been possible without the bad weather.  You see, you can always take advantage from a challenging situation and it is up to you.

Rio de Janeiro, Sugarloaf

Posted by Cedric de Alicoque on March 22, 2020

A sugarloaf was the usual form in which refined sugar was produced and sold until the late 19th century, when granulated and cube sugars were introduced. A tall cone with a rounded top was the end product of a process in which dark molasses, a rich raw sugar that was imported from sugar-growing regions such as the Caribbean and Brazil, was refined into white sugar.

I just learned that they it has a similar shape to that of the mountain Sugar Loaf.

These are the corridors up on the mountain

Street Art – Valparaiso, Chile

Posted by Cedric de Alicoque on March 9, 2020
Posted in: Chile. Tagged: Chile, Graffiti, streetart, streetphotography, valparaiso. 2 Comments

Art is abundant on the  streets  of  Valparaiso,  Chile.

This is no coincidence since home owners actually  pay artists to paint art on their houses’ facades.

In 2003,  Valparaíso was declared a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization UNESCO, World Heritage site.

I will post more pictures about this very nice place.
