Know Your Rights
All people in the United States have rights,
regardless of immigration status
The National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) defends the rights of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
Our advocacy and legal services teams keep families together, free people from the dangers of immigrant detention, and prevent asylum seekers and long-time community members from being deported based on unjust laws and illegal government actions.
Legal Services for Immigrants
NIJC provides legal consultations and representation for low-income immigrants seeking a wide range of immigration legal relief.
Donate to Defend Immigrants
Right now our communities face a serious fight to uphold human rights and due process. Our shared values of family unity, freedom, and justice are at stake. Will you courageously join us in this moment?
Your donation now will keep families together, protect a neighbor from deportation and detention, and ensure someone can start a new and safe life in the United States. Here’s what your donation does:
- $5,000 helps a child who has been abused, neglected, or abandoned secure safety and legal status
- $1,000 assists a person with filing an appeal at the Chicago Immigration Court HelpDesk
- $500 educates community members through a Know Your Rights presentation
- $100 provides expert legal help for a family fighting to stay together
- $50 provides a legal consultation by phone
