The Role of Adult Education

Megan Linzy-Johnson Named
Iowa’s State Advocacy Fellow

The Iowa Literacy Council (ILC) is proud to congratulate member Megan Linzy-Johnson on being selected as Iowa’s State Advocacy Fellow through the Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE).

Megan is part of the sixth cohort of COABE’s State Advocates for Adult Education Fellowship (SAAEF), which began in January 2026. The fellowship was first launched in March 2021 to develop leaders and advocates who champion adult education programs funded through WIOA Title II.

The State Advocates for Adult Education Fellowship (SAAEF) is a yearlong, hands-on advocacy training program designed for adult educators, adult learners, and supporters of adult education. Through the program, fellows participate in an engaging community of practice and gain valuable skills in working with the media, engaging their communities, and collaborating with policymakers to create meaningful change for adult learners and adult education programs.

The Iowa Literacy Council celebrates Megan’s selection and looks forward to the impact her advocacy will have in strengthening adult education and literacy efforts across Iowa.
