Ryan Dougherty will discuss the relaunch of Mission Geo and then join a moderated panel discussion on its direction and application. Mission Geo will be a platform for data, modeling, and decision support to help utilities, regulators, and policymakers evaluate geothermal heating and cooling as grid-relevant infrastructure.
The Town Hall will examine why geothermal heating and cooling matters now, as rising electricity demand, data center growth, capacity constraints, and rate pressure reshape grid planning. The discussion will focus on how Mission Geo will develop and apply practical analytical tools to quantify peak reduction, avoided capacity, and ratepayer value for utility and policy decisions.
The 2026 Ontario Geothermal Association conference, “Turning the Shift into Results” will be held on May 20, 2026 at the University of Toronto’s St. George Campus

A ground heat exchanger (GHX) is the system’s point of contact with the earth. If that connection is not designed, installed, and verified correctly, the performance of the entire system is at risk, no matter how good the heat pump, controls, or building integration may be.
The FLoMaX automated GHX testing platform verifies loop integrity and confirms proper installation at the moment the GHX is installed, reducing uncertainty and ensuring that a defective loop is never commissioned. For designers, installers, and utilities looking to scale geothermal heat pump deployment, early GHX validation is the difference between F1-level performance and a failed race before the first lap is complete.
