Wow, where has the time gone? There have been a bunch of great challenges over the past few months, but the combination of lack of time and lack of my muse has really thrown me for a loop. It feels like I made these particular icons forever ago, and I've been meaning to post them but I keep forgetting. These include submissions for pokicons, theiconthrone, tvlims and a few other places. Oh, and one The 100 straggler (and an alt) that was actually from 2014. Don't even ask.

Clearly Jessica Jones has been very inspiring for me. I'm not normally one to icon Marvel/DC/superhero fandoms, but this show has been such a game-changer.

Here's my entry for round two at 20muses, where we basically got our inspirations from playing a "board game" of sorts using random dice rolls. It's such a fun and unique challenge, and I knew I had to take part no matter what. But stupid me didn't set aside time to make icons until... this Tuesday, actually. This is the result of three days of furious iconning. I had to half-ass a bunch of icons, but I also have some that I really ended up liking. So, eh, mixed bag.

I usually get really inspired by songs (which seems to be a minority opinion for this round) and less so by color palettes, so I was a little bummed that I got a bunch of the latter. But I guess that's the luck of the draw?

Jessica Jones is pretty much my solo iconning muse these days. It's just so good, guys. I mean, it features a strong, snarky, flawed woman and a strong female relationship that is deep and complicated and doesn't revolve around men. That in itself is a miracle. The story's really dark and engaging, and the twists and turns can be unpredictable and often times shocking. I've always loved Krysten Ritter and this was the perfect role for her.

Mr. Robot is another great show. I've never watched Fight Club before, but I've heard that the two have a few similarities. The show makes you question if what you're seeing is real, and it's one of those quietly intense shows that really sucks you in.

Yikes, this entry is full of very few 2015 icons and long overdue. Free time and inspiration are two things currently evading me, but in the meantime I've still been milling around, appreciating all the gorgeous icons that continue to be made. It's been a crazy year and I haven't been on LJ nearly as much as I used to, but I miss making icons! I'm hoping this year I can finally get back into it. How can I not with great new (or relatively new) shows like Jessica Jones and Sense8, which I haven't iconned at all, not to mention all my old favorites?

Anywho, onward with my pitifully small icon post.

P.S. Why is LJ making my apostrophes quotes in the cut text? I don't like it. Not one bit.

Finally, an entry full of new icons! This is for Seeing Double at inspired20in20, a type of challenge I've always wanted to try out. I have less alts than usual, probably because iconning the same cap twice gave my indecisive tendencies a chance to shine. I've been falling hard for pastel coloring these days, so there's a lot more of that going on in this entry.

I can't stress enough how much I love this little show. It's my favorite new thing on TV right now. If you're not watching it already, give it a try! The ensemble is great (especially as led by Gina Rodriguez, who is killing it). The writing is hilarious and heartwarming (the narrator gives me so many Pushing Daisies feels, but he's actually even better). I go from laughing to crying to laughing about 10 times every episode. The story lines are perfectly over-the-top since it's based on a telenovela, but there's a very human touch to all of it. And the characters are much more than what you see on paper. The villain's never 100% evil, the good guy doesn't always make the right decisions, etc.

I tried to spread a little love to most of the characters in this set, but... needs more Rogelio and Petra! I'll do my best to correct that when I make more icons of this wonderful show.

I didn't want to start 2015 with a post full of 2014 icons, yet here we are. Headdesk. The icons in this mini-post are from the7days, pixelheroes, wonderous_stuff's Gift of Giving and iconsomething's Giftmas.

I'm feeling pretty 'meh' about this post because I feel like I rushed most of them to meet deadlines at various icon comms. That being said, I do like the ones I made for the gifting activities. I guess I don't want to let my giftees down, but it's okay when I'm iconning on my own? I haven't been iconning as much and it feels like my creative juices have just been going down the drain.

My hope (not resolution because making it official tends to backfire and I fail hard) is to return to iconning and doing the things I love most with my icons. So... *crosses fingers*
