iDisk 0.1

iDisk was Apple Computer, Inc.’s cloud-based storage service, introduced with iTools and later included in .Mac and MobileMe. It provided a personal, Internet-accessible disk that mounted in the Mac OS X Finder like a network drive, making it easy to drag and drop files, work offline with local synchronization, and access content from any connected Mac or a web browser.

Key capabilities included:

• File sharing via a Public folder and optional password-protected links
• Web access and WebDAV support for cross-platform use, including Windows
• Tight integration with Apple apps for publishing websites and photo galleries (e.g., iWeb and iPhoto)
• Support for offsite backups through Apple’s companion Backup utility for .Mac/MobileMe members

iDisk was discontinued with the transition from MobileMe to iCloud; its role was later replaced by iCloud Drive.
