IdaSec

Southeast Idaho’s Only Cybersecurity Meetup

Bifortnightly (Every Four Thursdays, or 13x/year)

Human, step away from the computer.

Tired of living your social life on the internet? Make better friends away from 127.0.0.1 and get among your people.

IdaSec is a free social meetup focused on bringing the infosec community together in the Idaho Falls area through informal, offline gatherings.

Anyone with interests in information security, hacking, data privacy, online safety, networking, computer science, cryptography, mathematics, GrownOps, cyberpunk culture, technology, and the policy or politics thereof, are welcome, as well as spouses, partners, and friends of all genders. IdaSec is a free, informal, independent, non-commercial, unsponsored, no-membership, no-pressure, safe, and inclusive meatspace.

All you have to do is show up. Someone will be glad you did.

What can I expect?

Seemingly normal humans gather every four weeks in a spacious game store to share news, stories, knowledge, and informal presentations. Bring something cool to show off or share. Many bring in snacks, takeout, and beverages, and we have plenty of space to relax and visit. There are also retro cabinet games you can play!

Who runs this?

1dark1Melanie Warner (she/her), AKA 1dark1 (Mastodon, BlueSky), serves the infosec community as a logo designer for Hotiron Creative and graphic artist for BSides Las Vegas. Originally from Rigby, she moved back here from NYC in 2023. She hosts southeast Idaho’s only cybersecurity meetup.

Where is everyone?

Most of us are chatting on Signal; message 1dark1 or email to join. Spread the word to anyone who might be interested. Bookmark and share this page, and follow us on Mastodon and LinkedIn for announcements.

Are you currently clean on OPSEC?

Despite its minimal online presence, IdaSec.org operates independently of social media and intrinsically values your privacy. We do not log or track attendees by any metric.
