9th-Jan-2006 09:34 pm - Icon Survey. [kimeru, survey]
Clamp (carpe diem)
Behind the cut are twenty-five (25) 100 x 100 icons, all of which are sans text. This is an experiment in what appeals certain people. Please look at the icons behind the cut, and decide on the five which appeal to you most. Comment with those five in order, and kindly give a short explanation as to why you picked that particular icon. Your explanation can range from something short, sweet, and to the point, or if you'd like, you can give me a long winded epical poem. This survey is to help me understand what part of an icon most appeals to people. All comments will be screened. Thank you for your time.

Oh, god. Not another one, right? Well, boredom struck, and I simply couldn't contain myself. How shocking. Well, here goes nothing.

Fell back into an icon making kick when I started browsing for Harry Potter movie images. Mugglenet.com is my savior, in that aspect. The majority are really half-assed, and done in five-or-so minutes. Anyways...

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire [x10]
Tsubasa R.C. [x2]
Clover [x4]
Final Fantasy Advent Children [x4]
Final Fantasy Game Series [x2]
LOVELESS [x2]
Prince of Tennis [x1]

I just recently found the musicon100 community, and thought it'd be interesting. However, since the only musician I actually make icons of (Kimeru) was already taken, I figured I'd just unofficially attempt the 100 icons. Who knows, it might be good practice, and I won't feel bad if I have to drop it.

Well, it's been a while, hasn't it? School's started, and I'm already kind of overwhelmed. I haven't had a lot of time to dedicate to the things I actually want to do. Icon-making is part of this list. However, as it's the weekend, and I had a few icons sitting on my computer, I figured it wouldn't hurt to post a few things. I'm not very happy with the majority of these, but at least it's something. I hope that once I settle into school a bit more, everything will follow, and I'll be able to get back into icon-making.

Icons behind the cut feature:
Kimeru (2)
Endou Yuuya (1)
Shiozawa Hidemasa (2)
Nagayama Takashi (1)
Prince of Tennis (1)

Notes:
"Forma" is a form of the Latin noun which means "shape", "beauty", and... well, "form".

I have to stop making such small posts, and post all of my icons together. Meh. Messing with blend modes, and discovered that I really like the "color burn" option, among other things. Brushes credited in earlier post, and the images were sitting in one of my folders. If I've taken these from somewhere, I'm terribly sorry.

On another note, does anyone know how to take screen captures of dvds? I've tried to "print screen" on winDVD, interactual player, windows media player, etc. I've also tried virtual dub, but I couldn't figure out how to open the bloody file.
Clamp (carpe diem)
I downloaded a bunch of new brushes, so I figured I'd mess around. Comment, Credit, you know the drill.

It summer vacation. It's early morning, and I had too much coffee for me to go back to sleep. Since I don't have anything else to do, I figured I might as well write a tutorial to keep my brain functioning. I apologize in advance for my terrible use to the English language before fully waking. :-)

I'm using Photoshop Elements to create this tutorial, but I'm fairly certain that it could be easily translated into other programs. All images are fairly large, but there are only three of them, and they have been linked to. It's my first tutorial, so please bear with me.

Making your own textures.Collapse )

I hope someone out there could benefit from this. Feel free to ask questions, and I will try my best to answer.

None, really. I don't remember who scanned the Kimeru images, but the Aiba, and Shiozawa images were scanned by either hinoai, or dilettantka.

I doubt I'll be making anymore icons for a short while. My times been eaten by school, and I really should be working right now. That said, don't expect much from me for a few weeks. Who knows, maybe I'll pop up before then.
