About

The Association of Iconographers of Ireland

Sr Paula Kiersey a Cistercian nun, who had been writing icons for a number of years organised an icon course in Cork with Guillem Ramos Poqui and following a second course in Dublin, The Association of Iconographers of Ireland was set up in 1992.

The membership is approximately one hundred. The Association teaches the Greek/Byzantine style of painting  using a method developed by the distinguished contemporary Iconographer and restorer of icons Eva Vlavianos.

It aims to establish contact between iconographers and to deepen the knowledge and understanding of icons.  It offers a forum for the interchange of ideas, exhibitions, courses, lectures and other events of interest. It produces three Newsletters a year and organises courses for beginners and advanced iconographers.
