all colors turning out grey with paint bucket tool

I'm having a problem with my colors/paint bucket (i use photoshop 7)

My colors are fine until i click on the paint bucket tool. Once i click on that, no matter what color i choose, it ends up being a grey color.

Like i chose 4E5EEA (a light blue) and this is what i got


and then i chose EB11DE (a pink) and i got this


I already tried just closing the photoshop and starting it again but that didn't do anything.

any suggestions? I have no idea why this happened
