Query about deleting brushes in Paint Shop Pro 8

A little while ago lauraatjuh2004 posted asking about a problem with deleting brushes in PSP8. The post contained large screencaps intended to help explain the problem, but the caps were not behind a cut, provoking an unnecessarily large number of comments suggesting adding a cut or complaining about a lack of one.

I've deleted the post and recreated it in its entirety, along with a few of the potentially useful comments, behind the cut below. If anyone else would like to read the post and try to answer the question, please feel free to do so.

Text of original post:

I have moved my map with the brushes, textures, etc. but now my brushes are totally fucked up and looks like big black circles. Now I'm trying to delete them and re-import them, but I can't delete them!! O_O I've clicked on the little trashcan but it doesn't work!! This is how I moved the map: rightclick, cut, paste.....is that wrong????

As for moving the brushes..
As far as I know the systemk has made a shortcut to the brushes. when you move the folder the shortcut ceases to work and thus your brushes will end up like this.
Best you can do is see where you can change that (don't have thr program on this comp sorry).

I think it won't delete the brushes as the shortcut doesn't work anymore.

I had that issue as well, what's happened is that you've deleted the file that PSP is looking for, but not the directory.
The best thing to do is put back the brushes in the PSP brush files, then use the delete button (trash can) to get rid of them. THEN afterward you can delete the firles.
If this doesn't work you MAY have to do waht I had to do, (I dumped the deleted files and couldn't get them back) and Whipe then re-install PSP.

Have you tried resetting brushes to default?

1. Click View | Palettes | Tool Options (F4).
2. Select the Preset drop down.
3. Click on the Reset to default button.
