Tutorial #7 & #8

how to make:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com and Image hosted by Photobucket.com with PS7

Say it with me now:

*( )=what it looks like so far

window overview: Image hosted by Photobucket.com,or here.

First I cropped my image into this:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

then i dupilcated my image and desaturated the background layer. You should now have:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com and Image hosted by Photobucket.com *(Image hosted by Photobucket.com)

Set the color layer to overlay and duplicate it. Gaussian blur the duplicate color layer(filter->blur->gaussian blur). For this icon, i left the settings however they were already, but you may want to play around with the settings.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com+Image hosted by Photobucket.com(overlay)=Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Then i make a new layer and floodfill it with a dark blue, which i set to exclusion.I moved this layer to inbetween the first color layer and the desaturated background layer.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com+Image hosted by Photobucket.com=Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Then I made a new layer on the top and flood filled it with a light brown color. I set this layer to color burn.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com+Image hosted by Photobucket.com(color burn)=Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Then I duplicated the desaturated background layer, dragged it to the top, and set it to multiply.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com+Image hosted by Photobucket.com(multiply)=Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Then I added "Duncan MacLeod",all caps, times new roman. Then I went to layers->layer style->blending options and set the text to multiply, with "drop-shadow selected".

For the last step, I added this border, set at multiply:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com+Image hosted by Photobucket.com=Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Tutorial#8

*in brackets is what the icon should look sort of like at each step.

After cropping, i started off with this base:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I duplicated it, and desaturated the backround layer. Set the blend mode of the color layer to screen.
Then I created a new layer of dark blue, which i set to exclusion. Now you should have the following layers, in order:

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com(Image hosted by Photobucket.com)

Then I made a new layer at the very top, filled with a light brown color, set to hard light. In order, you should now have:

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com(Image hosted by Photobucket.com)

Then I duplicated the desaturated layer (background) and dragged it to the very top. I set it to overlay, at 69%. In order, the layers should *now* be:

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com(Image hosted by Photobucket.com)

Then I added the following brush, set to multiply, 100%:

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com(Image hosted by Photobucket.com)

I added another brush, this time at normal, still 100% opacity:

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com(Image hosted by Photobucket.com)

Then I added a border brush, set at multiply,100%:

Add text and you're done!
