IBM ILOG OPL (Optimization Programming Language) is a high-level modeling language and development environment created by ILOG (now part of IBM) for building and solving mathematical optimization and constraint programming problems. OPL lets you express decision variables, constraints, and objectives in a clear, declarative syntax, with a clean separation of model (.mod) and data (.dat) files to support rapid prototyping and scenario analysis.

OPL is delivered as part of IBM ILOG CPLEX Optimization Studio and connects directly to IBM’s solvers: CPLEX Optimizer for linear, mixed-integer, and quadratic problems, and CP Optimizer for scheduling and other combinatorial problems. The environment includes an IDE with code assistance, run configurations, debugging and profiling tools, a conflict refiner, and built-in features for reporting KPIs and analyzing results.

Designed for both analysts and developers, OPL supports data exchange with common files and databases and can be embedded into applications via C++, Java, and .NET APIs. Typical uses include supply chain network design, production planning, workforce and shift scheduling, transportation and routing, pricing and portfolio optimization, and energy and utilities planning.

IBM ILOG OPL is developed by ILOG. The most popular version of this product among our users is 6.3. The name of the program executable file is oplide.exe.
