Happy Anniversary to me! I got married twenty-three years ago today. Amazing really. LOL It just goes to show that anything is possible if you're determined enough. Heh.

We ended up going to my brother's for the day and had a lovely meal and good company. It was nice. Hope all of you had a good day - Thanksgiving or otherwise.

So, I'm ba-ack! Finally! Thanks for all your good wishes and positive thoughts - I really did appreciate them.

Just thought I'd let anyone interested know that - if I haven't responded or commented someplace that you thought I would, or read something you thought that I would - I can barely see.

Monday, I noticed an irritation in my right eye (my reading eye).

Tuesday, I was trying to pay bills and realized that I couldn't see well enough to get it done.

Wednesday, bright and early, I saw my ophthalmologist, because I was having so much trouble with my right eye (pain, irritation, tearing, blurred vision, extremely light sensitive) and I was afraid that somehow I'd damaged it with all the mess at the house. :(  Turns out that my cornea is very swollen, but I didn't have anything actually in my eye and the cornea wasn't cut or torn, which is good, and no infection...also good. He compared the state of my cornea to having a badly scraped knee. :(

I'm doing steroid drops now, which make my vision even more blurred, but I still have pain, blurring, tearing and light sensitivity. I'm wearing sunglasses practically 24/7. I'm not allowed to read and/or be on the computer. Of course, I have been cheating a little but not much at all because...it hurts.

So, one more pathetic little story from me, and this one really hits me hard.  I can't read! I'M IN HELL!!!  *headdesk*

I actually got tagged not once, but twice - realpestilence and firestar28 both tagged me on this meme. *eyes them* Three other friends have also done this meme since then, so I guess that there's a trend. *g* I wasn't able to answer the tag right away due to RL issues, but I promised that I would when I could...so...here goes nothing. *LOL*

A RL friend of mine took pictures of my cat, Garnet, last night with her digital camera and mailed them to me today. I made an icon with one of them, and I uploaded one other pic to LJ. I thought I'd go ahead and post here so that you could look if you want to. Please don't feel obligated. *LOL* This is my baby girl. *pets her*

We finally had an insurance adjuster show up this past Monday. She came through our (formerly beautiful) basement and measured, took notes, asked questions, etc., and then she went out to her car and wrote up a partial estimate. ( More behind the cut...Collapse )

Yesterday, ladycat777 posted a wonderful SGA gen story. It revolves around a topic that I think many of us would/should be interested in. I won't say what - because it would spoil it for you. It is beautifully written and well worth reading. In fact, even if you don't read SGA, it's still well worth reading - it's just that good.

Again - it's gen (so no slash) but - trust me - you won't miss it. Go! Read! You'll be glad that you did. If you like it as much as I'm sure you will...let her know. *nods*

I'd like to thank everyone who has posted fic and pretties today, and especially sheafrotherdon for starting the Festival of Bellies where so many talented people are participating. At this point, taking short fic-reading breaks is pretty much the only thing keeping me sane. *sigh* My husband woke me at six thirty this morning to share the news that our basement had flooded. So...is anyone watching the new program, Saving Grace? It's really well worth watching - seriously. There's an angel, but this is no fluffy, feel-good drama. It's intense and chock-full of serious, moral turpitude...yes, I said turpitude. *nods firmly*

The lead character is my age (!) - well, at least the actress (Holly Hunter) who plays her is, but she's out of control and on the road to hell. God sends her a last chance angel. Huh. Excellent cast, good stories - it's really edge-of-your seat viewing. :) Also? Last night, James Marsters guest-starred. :D He was very sweet and soft-spoken...of course, ( spoiler follows the cut!Collapse )

I just fell down most of a flight of stairs. On my back (and backside). Ouch. Yes, I'm very, very sore, but not, I hope, actually broken. Ow. I may need my heating pad tonight and to, you know, go to bed.

Yin posted The Book Quiz, and I had to try it out for myself. What is really amazing is that this actually is one of my favorite novels. While that is, admittedly, a long list—I'm still pretty impressed. Huh...how do they do that?

It's a wonderful day today! It's the day that the lovely A was born—she who graces us with her friendship, love, talent and wit. I wouldn't be here without her, and it means so much to me that she cared.

Happy Birthday, sweetie. *hugs you* I hope that today is the first wonderful, new day of a bright and perfect, new year in your life. Either way, I plan to be around to share the whole thing with you...stalking you is my personal lifestyle choice...LOL.

My friend, ladycat777 wrote a new fic in her Shadow'verse for me for my birthday...squeeeeee! It's just wonderful (as is the whole Shadow'verse!), and I really hope that everyone reads it. It's called Cinder Star. It's Gen, set post-The Gift...only in this 'verse, Buffy isn't brought back. Read...you don't know what you're missing...
