Cabling isn’t susceptible to interference from wireless signals or battery life, as is the case with wireless intercoms, making wired intercoms more reliable. Wireless intercoms can be a good choice for rental properties or old homes because cables are troublesome. For older inner-city properties in Melbourne, with original facades like those at Elwood, St Kilda and South Yarra, wireless or hybrid systems are recommended to preserve the original facades.
Audio-only systems suit gated driveways, warehouses, and secondary entry points.
