HP ALM Lab Service is a lightweight agent that connects test hosts to HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), enabling centralized orchestration of automated test execution across your lab. It lets ALM reserve resources, allocate hosts, and run tests remotely and unattended, while reporting status and results back to ALM in real time.

Key capabilities:

  • Registers Windows hosts with ALM so they can be scheduled and used for automated test runs.
  • Supports remote, unattended execution of UI-driven tests by managing interactive desktop sessions (including auto logon and screen unlock).
  • Coordinates host availability with ALM timeslots, pools, and maintenance windows to prevent conflicts.
  • Launches and monitors test tools installed on the host (such as HP’s functional testing tools), collecting logs and run data.
  • Provides health checks and status reporting for better lab visibility and troubleshooting.
  • Uses a small footprint and runs as a Windows service for simple deployment and administration.

Ideal for QA and DevOps teams using HP ALM, HP ALM Lab Service helps scale parallel test execution, improve lab utilization, and streamline continuous testing from a single, centralized platform.
