A PODCAST ABOUT THE MOTORCYCLE INDUSTRY AND THOSE WHO BUILD, RIDE, INSPIRE, MAKE AND WONDER!

Chasing the Horizon

About Us

Chasing the Horizon came about because host Wes Fleming couldn’t find exactly the podcast he wanted to listen to and subsequently said to himself, “It’s a podcast. How hard could it be?” As I’m sure you can guess, it turned out to be a lot harder than he expected, but tapping his experience in music production and recording flattened the learning curve a bit.

Wes (at right) with his wife, Penelope, on a motorcycle ride.

With a background in journalism and an advanced degree in history, Wes felt he could bring a critical perspective to the world of motorcycle podcasting by digging into the news, issues and personalities making the motorcycle industry what it is. Driven by curiosity, Wes wanted to use his research and writing skills to connect with listeners anywhere, any time—listeners who, like him, are more interested in the hows and whys of the motorcycle industry, rather than just the whos, wheres and whats.

Wes is currently the Digital Media Editor for the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America, and works part-time as a cybersecurity specialist in addition to running a side business as a freelance editor of books, magazines, websites, and anything else that might need a firm guiding hand on the sentences and paragraphs used to express ourselves to the world around us. As part of his duties for the MOA, he creates and curates video content for the organization’s YouTube channel and produces three other podcasts: 200 Miles Before Breakfast, The Ride Inside with Mark Barnes, and Riding Into the Sunset.

While Chasing the Horizon is sponsored by a BMW-oriented organization, it has always been important to Wes that the show not be focused on BMW motorcycles alone. As a result, Wes expresses a particular interest in the motorcycle industry in India and elsewhere in Asia, as well as the major American and European motorcycle manufacturers.

In his free time, Wes reads classic science-fiction novels, repairs guitars and motorcycles, fronts an instrumental rock band called Hypersonic Secret and plays in the surf music band Agent Octopus.
