Lucy is an award-winning architect with three decades of experience shaping spaces that make a difference. She first joined HLM in the 1990s as a year-out student, and has grown with the practice ever since—now one of the leaders of our work in the education sector, which she’s deeply passionate about.

She collaborates closely with Karen Mosley to champion social value—embedding it into both our company policies and the projects we deliver. For Lucy, it’s all about creating places that inspire, include, and make a lasting impact.

Her designs are driven by a belief that architecture can transform the student experience. From strategic masterplanning and stakeholder engagement to creating innovative, active learning environments, Lucy’s work is rooted in understanding how spaces support evolving educational approaches.

Lucy is passionate about the power of architecture to enhance lives. She believes thoughtful design can support evolving pedagogies and create inclusive, inspiring environments for students and communities. She’s committed to embedding social value and sustainability into every stage of design, and enjoys collaborating with clients and stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes.

Lucy is deeply committed to mentoring and knowledge-sharing, actively contributing to the architectural community through teaching and peer review. She regularly shares her expertise and insights as a design tutor at Sheffield Hallam University.
