Infrastructure Assets
Clean energy solutions for an always on world
Highview is a global pioneer, drawing from unprecedented insight to develop critical infrastructure assets that enable the clean energy transition.
We bring together our own patented innovations with other world‑class technologies to create uniquely integrated solutions that operate at grid scale. This allows us to plan, build and operate platforms that meet the specific needs of power systems operators, governments and enterprises worldwide.
Resilient, sustainable grid stability services
Highview can deliver a full suite of grid stability, flexibility and resilience services essential to operating a secure, reliable power system. We enable flexible demand, synchronous stability, voltage control, constraint management, fast response, black start capability and reactive power, in a single, integrated solution – independent of fossil‑fuel generation. This means grid operators can incorporate more renewable energy sources while maintaining certainty and delivering lower, more stable costs to consumers.
Harnessing the incredible power of air for smarter long-duration energy storage
Highview’s globally patented Liquid Air Energy Storage (LAES) technology provides a long-duration solution that’s clean, flexible, responsive, dependable and ready to be deployed at grid-scale. A proven solution developed over more than 15 years, LAES captures excess renewable energy when demand is low, and stores it as liquid air, for hours, days or even weeks. Then, when it’s needed, the air is expanded to generate electricity, delivering 100% clean, dispatchable power, available 247.365.
How does Liquid Air Energy Storage work?
Flexible Demand: when renewable energy supply outstrips demand, we capture the excess output, relieving pressure on the grid, cutting wastage and reducing the need for costly and inefficient curtailment programmes.
Long-Duration Storage: LAES uses refrigerated, liquid air to stockpile and reserve renewable energy until it’s needed. A mature, clean technology that delivers more efficient storage capabilities from six hours up to several weeks.
Unlike other storage technologies, LAES can operate in constant cycling without degradation, offers a 40‑ to 50‑year operational life, and enables independent stability services. It’s fully locatable, modular and configurable, with asymmetric charge/discharge rates to match specific applications. This makes it ideal for firming intermittent renewables, reducing curtailment, and enabling the shift from fossil fuels to wind and solar.
