Well, tomorrow is the anniversary of The Glorious Revolution of May 25th. I've never done anything for it before, but considering recent developments, it's a fitting enough time for symbolic gestures, I think. I wish I'd gotten something organised earlier, maybe something charity-wise, but honestly, I'm not BNF enough to have done anything successfully (although the nice thing about this fandom is, we don't really have BNF). Either way though, only a handful of people, if that, read this journal, and most of us being students, we tend to believe we don't really have the money to spare.
Tokenism warms the soul though, and so tomorrow, on the anniversary of The Glorious Revolution of May 25th, I am going to write seven drabbles to commemorate Reg Shoe, Cecil Clapman, Horace Nancyball, Billy Wiglet, Dai Dickins, Ned Coates and, of course John Keel. Each drabble is going to be about a favourite Discworld pairing of mine, canon or otherwise, and it is going to be constructed entirely out of my own personal fanon. The only thing I have left to decide is if I'll post them all Sunday or do one for each day of the week after that. We'll see how my schedule pans out. I will, however, write them all on May 25th. At most I'll edit them as I type.
And that, really, will sum up my little token gesture. I hope, somewhere out there, the Gods of the Disc manage to find the idea, if not the execution, at least somewhat amusing.
And if any of you have some cash to burn, or feel like donating, you can do it through the Hazel Hawke Alzheimer's Research & Care Fund, through the UK-based Alzheimer's Research Trust, or you can access a paypal account that'll directly let you Match It For Pratchett. Whether you donate or no, though, I strongly recommend you visit at least one of these sites, because they reckon that the number of people with dementia will double within a generation, and I, at least, would like to know what's going on with that.
