What’s free on Examine, and what do paid members get?
We provide a ton of free information, but keep the lights on by selling memberships that provide readers with much more information, especially on the latest research.
Long ago, we decided not to clutter the site up with ads (how weird would it be if you saw ads for wasteful supplements right next to Examine data that showed a supplement didn’t work?). And since we didn’t want to accept money from supplement or food companies to hawk their products, our sole funding option are Examine's paid memberships.

If I upgrade my subscription, will I lose my existing discount?
No worries—upgrades are risk-free. While discounts don’t carry over to upgraded plans, you can switch back at any time and keep the price you originally signed up for.

What's Examine Legacy?
Examine Legacy refers to subscriptions created before July 2020. If you’re a Legacy subscriber, your access has been fully grandfathered in—meaning you can continue using your existing benefits as originally provided. You can review exactly what’s included on your subscription benefits page.
Can I have access as a journalist?
As part of our mission to help others be healthier, journalists may have complimentary Examine+ access. Learn more.
Any discounts or offers?
We offer discounted access to Examine+ for qualifying students and seniors.
Student discount
Students may receive a discount of up to 50% on a yearly or monthly Examine+ membership.
In order to claim your student discount, we need to confirm your student status. Please email us at support@examine.com using a university-associated email account or send us a photo of your student ID. Once you are verified, we will send the discount links to you.
Senior discount
The Examine+ Membership is up to 50% off for people over 60.
To take advantage of this offer, please contact or email us at support@examine.com and include a photo of your ID or a screenshot of just your name and birthdate from your vaccine card. Only your name and birthdate need to be visible to verify your eligibility. All other information can be blacked out, blurred, or blocked.
We will use this information only to verify that you are over 60 years old. It will be deleted afterward and will not be shared with anyone else. Once you are verified, we will send the discount links to you.
