Hi, I’m Anselm. I help teams and companies become more effective and create beautiful, fast and accessible web experiences that humans will love. Hire me as freelancer:

  • if your team has challenges achieving goals or sticking to workflows
  • if you want to build solid products that work as your customers expect it
  • if you want me to fix accessibility, performance issues or scaling your codebase
  • if you want me to coach your frontend teams to become better engineers

I’m in the industry since 2004, so far have worked with large companies and teams, spoke at events, wrote several articles and books and my customers and colleagues highly appreciate my work.

Engineering Excellence

I have helped many teams already to have better workflows, reliable toolchains and solid code quality. By understanding the requirements, needs and goals of Product Management, developers and the customers I’m able to fix the remaining problems in workflows.

When working with the teams, I do code reviews, code myself and implement features or fix bugs and coach people while doing that. In the end, I deeply integrate into the team and transfer my knowledge to the company. That usually leads to great results and a happier team and company.

The solutions I could do the architecture for have a robust architecture with modern technologies while working with the web platform instead of working around or trying to copy paste solutions from the web or AI agents. Using Agentic AI can be a benefit for teams but we need to set the environment so this works for us and does not fire back quickly.

Lean Workflow Coaching

Scrum, Kanban, Agile, Lean — it does not matter which term you prefer but what works for your team. With quite some experience in Agile Management and Engineering Management in a variety of companies I’m able to find the best methods for your case and adopt the new workflow together with the team.

If you really want to unblock yourself and commit the company to do this, we’re going to be faster and more reliable on the business side while the team will be calmer, happier and more committed to the goals on the human side.

I was certified Scrum Master (expired) but more importantly have personal recommendations by Agile Influencers and Engineering Management people I worked with around the world.

Creator of the WDRL Newsletter

I wrote a industry-leading newsletter called WDRL for ten years in which I wrote about the tech industry, our society, design, sustainable businesses and more.

With about 17k subscribers and great reputation it’s seen as one of the key newsletters in the web development industry.

My Market Garden

I own a market garden since 2019 and grow vegetables. Check out the short documentary by the BR to see it in action:

Co-founder of Colloq

I worked on my own startup Colloq for four years, an event management and listing platform that helps you focus on your main work: Organizing and planning your workshops, courses, conferences or meetup. We decided to sunset Colloq in 2021 as we couldn’t find a proper way to make enough revenue for an income from the project.

Nightlybuild Conference

I was creator of the Nightlybuild conference, a nice evening conference all around frontend and UX engineering gathering 250 people. We’ve retired the event in 2018 after four successful events with well-known international speakers.
