Halton Newcomer Strategy Mandate
The HNS is mandated to collaboratively plan, promote and advocate for changes to make Halton an inclusive community that effectively delivers responsive services to newcomers residing in Halton, recognizing that the needs will continue to change and evolve over time. The HNS and its associated Action Groups actively seek partnership opportunities and support local organizations/networks that assist newcomers and contribute to welcoming communities. Throughout the planning process, members have identified and developed partnerships and linkages that leverage resources, build capacity and increase the impact of its efforts across Halton.
Why is the work of Halton Newcomer Strategy important?

Since 2010, members of the Halton Newcomer Strategy Steering Committee (HNS) have been working together to support the needs of newcomers in Halton. The HNS works closely with more than 90 community partners to help eliminate barriers and develop their Strategic Plan, which identifies and addresses challenges while enhancing opportunities for newcomers.”

The Halton Newcomer Strategy does not provide direct services to newcomers. Our job is to help the communities of Halton Region develop the tools and programs they need to support newcomers.
