About Our Historic Home

Hello, I'm Julie!

Current Owner of the Haines on Main Historic Home

With over 35 years of experience in design and special occasions, I have dedicated my career to creating unforgettable moments. It has always been my dream to own an historic home that serves as a gathering space for life’s celebrations.

My vision for this space became crystal clear during a challenging time in my life when I nearly lost my son to SUD (substance use disorder). This experience ignited my passion to create a place that not only celebrates life’s memorable moments but also serves as a sanctuary for healing and connection.

At Haines On Main, we believe in the power of bringing people together. Whether it’s a shower, a birthday, or a corporate gathering, our goal is to help you celebrate life’s milestones in a warm and welcoming environment. We are committed to fostering a sense of community and support, providing a space where wonderful memories are made and healing begins.

Thank you for visiting my website. I look forward to helping you create your next unforgettable life celebration!

Warm regards,

Julie

Narrative of Our Home

Our story begins in 1866!

Situated on picturesque Main Street in St. Charles, Illinois. The house was built in 1866 by Charles Haines, a St. Charles businessman who also served as major and school board president. Both the man and the house he built have added to the rich history of St. Charles.

Charles Haines was cofounder of the St. Charles Board Of Education and he served on the board until his passing. During his tenure, Haines built the Haines High School on the east side of town. The school was eventually torn down in 1956 to make room for a bigger and more modern facility. While Haines was a lifelong bachelor and had no children of his own, he considered the children of St. Charles his own.

Commemorated in Time

Our story continues...

Haines had quite an estate and actually ended up leaving about $100,000 to the school district for future generations. Since his death, the house has welcomed many occupants including private residences, Starck Real Estate Company and McDowell Remodeling.

Bob and Sue McDowell worked diligently to have the house officially designated with a historical plaque in 2015. Haines House is part of the Millington Historic District of St. Charles.

The New Millenium

Modern Renovations and Additions

Marty and Julie Starck of St. Charles are the new owners of the historic home, fulfilling a long-held dream. For Julie, this home represents a canvas for life’s cherished moments and celebrations.

Beyond personal joy, she envisions creating a haven for families impacted by addiction, fostering a space where love and healing can thrive. By partnering with local nonprofits, Julie aims to unite joy and compassion, strengthening community ties as they embark on this new chapter together.
