The following rules apply to all participants at HackLondon 2026. By participating, you agree to abide by these terms.
1. Eligibility

Open to current university students only.

All participants must be officially registered.

All hackers must be physically present onsite at the venue to compete. Remote participation is not permitted.

Organisers reserve the right to verify student status and eligibility.
2. Team Formation
-
Teams may have 1–4 members.
-
You may form a team before the event or during the team formation period.
-
A participant may only be part of one team.
-
Each team must select exactly one track.
3. Project Requirements
-
All work must be created during the hackathon build period (21–22 February 2026).
-
No pre-built projects or substantial pre-written codebases are allowed.

You may use:

Open-source libraries and frameworks
-
Public APIs
-
Pre-trained models
-
-
However, the core idea and implementation must be developed during the event.
4. Track-Specific Compliance
PropTech Track – by Serac Group & IBex
-
Open datasets must have appropriate licences and be properly referenced.
-
IBex API data is for hackathon use only.
-
IBex data must not be copied, scraped, exported, or published in public repositories.
Hardware Track – Sponsored by Qualcomm & eesoc
-
Hardware components provided remain subject to event rules.
-
Teams must follow all safety guidance when using hardware labs and equipment.
5. Code & Intellectual Property

Teams retain ownership of their projects unless otherwise stated by a specific sponsor challenge.

You must disclose any third-party code or APIs used.
-
Your Devpost submission must link to a public repository (excluding restricted datasets).
6. Judging & Prizes

Projects will be judged according to each track’s published criteria.

Judges’ decisions are final.

To be eligible for prizes, teams must:

Submit on Devpost before the deadline
-
Demo their project during judging
-
Comply with all hackathon rules
-
7. Conduct
-
All participants must behave respectfully toward others, organisers, sponsors, and the venue.

Harassment, discrimination, unsafe behaviour, or damage to property will result in disqualification.

Follow all instructions from organisers and venue staff at all times.
8. Disqualification
Participants or teams may be disqualified for:

Submitting pre-built work
-
Violating data usage policies
-
Breaking safety rules
-
Plagiarism or misrepresentation
-
Breach of conduct
-
Any team where one or more registered members are not physically present on-site during the event
9. Liability
Participants are responsible for their own equipment and personal belongings.
Organisers are not liable for loss, theft, or damage.
