IN ITS TENTH ITERATION, OVER 200 STUDENTS WILL COME TOGETHER FOR 24 HOURS TO CREATE WITH CODE AND TURN THEIR IDEAS INTO REALITY. HACKHERS IS ORGANIZED BY RUTGERS WOMEN IN COMPUTER SCIENCE.

Judging Criteria

  • Technical Difficulty
    Is the hack technically interesting or difficult? Is it just some lipstick on an API, or were there real technical challenges to surmount? (Doesn’t apply to new hackers)
  • Originality
    Is the hack more than just another generic social/mobile/local app? Does it do something entirely novel, or at least take a fresh approach to an old problem?
  • Functionality/Quality
    Is the project free of major bugs? Is the user experience smooth? Does everything appear to work? Is it well designed? The UI/UX doesn’t have to be perfect, but if we’re having a hard time understanding the project, there may be a problem.
  • Usefulness
    Is the hack practical? Is it something people would actually use? Does it fulfill a real need people have?
