Welcome to Hack the Ridge, the annual hackathon held at Iroquois Ridge High School in Oakville, Ontario! Let your creativity run free as you build a project addressing the most important technological issues in society. Our website is available here: https://hacktheridge.ca/.

Requirements

What to Build

The content of the hack is entirely up to hackers, but it must address the theme of the Hackathon (released on the day of the event). You may use any language, libraries, and frameworks you want.

What to Submit

We ask that you create a Github repository containing all of your project's code to submit to Devpost. We will not accept .zip files, videos, or any other submission formats.

Judging Criteria

  • Creativity/Originality (/10 points)
    Is your project unique? Does it address a specific issue that's seldom discussed? Your project can be based on something else or an improvement on an existing program, but should bring something new.
  • Complexity (/10 points)
    The amount of effort required to make this hack successful. Note that we do not care about unnecessary fancy operations and libraries - make it elegant and meaningful.
  • Efficacy (/10 points)
    These points will be awarded based on how effective your hack is at what it's supposed to do. Does it solve a problem related to the Hackathon's theme?
  • Efficiency (/5 points)
    Efficiency will be judged based off of code comments, layout, and eloquence. Keep your code clean and avoid brute-force operations for full points.
  • Application Value (/5 points)
    What is the real-world context of your hack? Does it bring real value to the world?
  • Wow Factor
    Buffer points for anything not captured in the above pieces of criteria!
