• What is Hack !T?

HACK !T is the first hackathon organized by students in Algeria, it’s a competition-style event, hosted by the scientific club of ESI (CSE) and its main goal is to expand the Tech community in Algeria.

In the last two editions of Hack !T, our team was determined to create a suitable atmosphere for students, newer programmers, and even seasoned professionals to meet like-minded individuals, form teams with them, collaborate, and come up with creative solutions to an existing problem previously chosen by our team.

Not only do participants get the satisfaction of creating a useful product during the hackathon, but in the course of that process, you’ll acquire a lot of knowledge, embrace new technologies and develop your programming skills to help you navigate through your journey as a software engineer, computer scientist or any other technology engineering field.

Requirements

Hack !T knows no borders, hence any technology you’re skilled with can make you a winner whether it is a web development tool, a mobile framework, or a hardware solution such as Arduino or Raspberry pi. One task is mandatory; use of open datasets in the solution and explaining how the data helped solve the problem.

Participants should submit :

- A presentation

- A link to github repo

- A prototype and any other useful links

Judging Criteria

  • Prototype
a well-designed prototype is expected to be seen among the deliverables and during the presentations therefore, the participants should focus a little bit more on the UI/UX levels than the pure design of their applications.
  • Level of Innovation
the solution uses classical methods in a unique and transcendent way to solve a problem that has been ignored or tackles a problem from a new angle.
  • Justified use of data or pre-trained models
participants must justify the use of open datasets or pre-trained models to solve the identified problem.
  • Feasibility
the solution must be realistic, which means that the presented solution can be developed into a concrete functional application, and this in terms of the idea itself, the relation between the idea and the data used to develop the solution.
  • Business Value
the solution must have at least one added value compared to existing solutions, also its impact on the business side must be clarified.
  • Pitch
the pitch is to the point with convincing argumentation and a compelling storyline. The allowed time to pitch should be respected.
