The 2026 Black History Month theme, set by ASALH, is "A Century of Black History Commemorations". It marks the 100th anniversary of the first Negro History Week, honoring the evolution of Black history studies and its role in shaping American culture. The theme focuses on preserving, sharing, and amplifying Black stories to build a more equitable future.
