San Andreas Unity

Recommended Posts

We are porting GTA San Andreas to Unity - https://github.com/GTA-ASM/SanAndreasUnity

This won't be a complete re-implementation of the game, but we're hoping to build something similar to Multi Theft Auto with assets streamed from an existing installation of San Andreas.

Using power of Unity, you can now do all the things that you like with one of the best games ever.

Here are the main features implemented so far :

  • load various game assets (img, ide, ipl, dff, txd, col, handling, etc)
  • load the world (for both physics and rendering)
  • load pedestrians and play animations on them
  • control the player (move around, jump, enter vehicles, etc)
  • car spawning and driving
  • map and minimap

In the future, it will support multiplayer and more features that original GTA:SA doesn't.

We could use your help. So, if you can contribute or just want to support the project, join the discord https://discord.gg/p6jjud5.

TBH if you're gonna do something in unity you should do something original than port another game that isn't even that old into it.

Unity is laggy, poorly-optimized crap which requires very high system specs to perform simple tasks.

I think you should focus on expanding the original engine as there is so much left to do.

This is so wrong lol. It's as optimized as much as skill of the person using it. You can use any engine and make it run slow if it's handled by bad coder.

Added description for each image

We finally managed to play 2 animations at the same time. Here's how aim-and-move looks like. Next thing is reloading, and after that bullet shooting and damage system.

I don't see any C&D Notice, do you? They might go to that length (although doubtful as long as they can keep on milking that cow named GTA:O). Then again, just comply to the C&D and you should be fine...

This project has nothing to do with GTA:O, is about San Andreas Unity Remake, it's good we have a new version, this should be called GTA SA V1.3 Unity Version.

good thing GTA Underground and San Andreas Unity are on progress, and again.....GTA SA never die.

really sounds like you will get DMCA'd and possibly taken to court for this

Everything is legal here. Like the description says, we are only reading assets from GTA installation, not redistributing them. You can treat this project as another tool for GTA.

We will include the necessary copyright notice.

Good job repeating your original post and bringing nothing new.

Nice to see how big GTA SA modding community is after those many years! I have no idea what Unity is but I'm very interested to see the progress.

I always want to play GTA 3/VC/SA on my PSVita and Nintendo DS Phat but a man can only dream, right?:D

Aiming with AIMWITHARM weapons (pistol, sawnoff, tec9, uzi) works. Believe it or not, this was the hardest part so far. It took me a week to do it. Because there are no integrated animations for this, I had to manually control the skeleton (which means: upper arm, fore arm, hand). On top of that, coordinate systems for these parts are different, so it was a pain in the ass to implement this.

Anyways, now you can aim and move with these weapons, using their full potential 😀

Sorry for bad video quality, my laptop is a piece of crap.

SOUNDS ARE WORKING

We finished loading sounds. Any sound from the game can be played. You can use Audio window to play individual sounds. Weapon firing has sound effects, and you can hear the startup music while the game is loading :D.

Credits for hard work:

- BigETI , for creating audio library which loads audio data/cfg, and for creating Unity audio clips out of them

- moi, for integrating audio into SAU, and making it possible to play individual SFX sounds (eg weapon sounds)
