Senior Director, Research

Summary

The Senior Director of Research oversees research operations and design strategy for Elevate, a division of SmithGeiger Group. Specific duties include leading survey design and primary research best practices for the division while also designing, managing, analyzing, and delivering key insights to a variety of regional and national brands across the country.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Marketing, Business, Communications or similar
  • 8-10 years of experience in a professional setting
  • Familiarity with data and statistics
  • Experience telling stories using syndicated or primary research
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills
  • Collaborative, engaging team member dedicated to excellence and premium client service
  • Leadership/Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or communications
  • Experience supporting a high-growth work environment
  • Nimble and curious business mind with a knack for developing creative solutions that increase workflow and productivity
  • Experience designing qualitative and quantitative primary research studies
  • Proficiency with online project management and communication tools including Monday, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Zoom, Dropbox, etc.

About the Job

As Senior Director of Research you will have your hands in the myriad projects we author, design, execute, and present in a variety of industries across the U.S. each year including but not limited to retail, technology, tourism, healthcare, legal, home improvement, financial, and elective health to name a few.

As “right-hand” to our founder you will be responsible for innovating research strategy, the development and use of AI, and support our business development efforts through the management of our various industry tracking studies and research.

At parties you will tell people you are a professional question asker that connects brands with their most desired customers. You will win trivia games with family and friends thanks to all the knowledge you will gain in this role in a variety of industries you will have oversight.

You will have a direct impact on workflow of the division and oversee our client communication methods to ensure a premium customer experience.

You will oversee the building of actionable evidenced based research presentations that bring our custom insights to life for our customers as lead storyteller.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee research strategy and processes for effectively and cost efficiently fielding primary research for the division
  • Author detailed executive summaries, overviews, and strategic recommendations as needed
  • Be the subject matter expert on the latest research design methods and serve as lead consultant on implementation of insights for clients
  • Listen, author, design and oversee creative primary research explorations for a variety of regional brands across the country
  • Analyze findings via detailed crosstab analyses to uncover industry trends and key findings to establish meaningful norms across industries
  • Contribute to company thought pieces, white papers, blog posts, and webinars to help socialize recent trends and findings
  • Identify and drive new product offerings and revenue for the division
  • Support the advancement of revenue through collaboration with the sales team

Location

This role can be located anywhere in the U.S., but a Central or Eastern time zone is preferred. Remote employees may occasionally travel to our company headquarters in Los Angeles, CA for meetings or team-building events and some light travel may be required (<25%).
